Watch the Top 10 best Hari Raya Avertisements and Commercials for the year 2020. As usual, Petronas and TNB have rolled out their respective touching and meaningful Hari Raya commercials too. Which is your favourite?
However, now it appears that almost every company can produce their very own meaningful Hari Raya commercial to spread the positive festive message and promote the company at the same time. This year 2020 Hari Raya has served as a challenge for each company's marketing team due to the current pandemic and social distancing requirements. Hence, brands need to be really creative to think of Hari Raya Advertisements that will still spark that Raya Magic that we need every year, especially during this challenging time.
Top 10 Hari Raya Ads 2020
1. Petronas-Antara Dua Jendela
Petronas has never let us down with their meaningful and touching Hari Raya advertisements. Their 2020 edition of hari Raya commercial made good use of mixed media animation which was beautifully drawn. The story revolves around 2 neighbours from the same village. This year's Hari Raya is different for them due to the Covid-19 pandemic and that is why the story is about 2 windows (Jendela). Watch it now.
2. TNB-#SemangatRayaEpikFantastik
Like in the previous years, TNB has lived up to their pedigree again this year by producing a montage-style music video for the Hari Raya celebration. Being witty and thinking out-of-the-box has helped TNB to carve out deliciously funny and innovative Hari Raya ads. This year they poked fun at us being trapped due to the MCO lockdown and how we have to deal with our long hair and food preparation on our own.
3. Tesco's Raya Tapi Jauh
Tesco first caught my attention with their back to school commercials and now their Hari Raya Ads are being shot in the same vein as well. The company has created 4 different advertisements for this year's Hari Raya. All 4 of Tesco's commercials talk about a man who kept in touch with his mother through his electronic gadgets like smartphone and tablet to help him with fashion tips and cooking advice. This light-hearted Raya ads shows that distance is a never a problem when someone is close to your heart.
4. Vivo-#RayaStyleLain
Who would have thought that Vivo whose parent company is from mainland China will take Hari Raya commercial seriously right? Their Hari Raya Ads features a caring grandmother (Nenek) who is giving advice to her children (anak) and grandchildren (cucu) on how to cook, decorate the house and even bake Hari Raya cookies since a get together is impossible this year. She also reminded them jokingly not to wander around (Kesana & Kesini) to avoid being caught up by the Covid-19 virus. The grandmother's antics and facial expressions had really made the video more meaningful. I must admit that Vivo has done really well shooting this fun Hari Raya Ads for us Malaysians despite the current situations.
5. Adabi-#RayaTetapRaya
Interestingly this Hari Raya commercial from Adabi seems to be similar to Vivo's version in certain ways but then again this ads from Adabi has its own unique charm. The exaggerated antics of the actors really suit the storyboard's humorous touch. The borrowed scenes from TikTok also made the whole Hari Raya commercial from Adabi even more lovable.
6. Yeo's-Raya Kaler Yeogurt
This advertisement from Yeo's is also the same like Tesco's advertisement, it is part of a series. Yeo's is a brand that is very synonymous with every Malaysian especially during festive periods, hence it is fitting that the company's Hari Raya Ads made it into this top 10 list. Being well prepared means that Yeo's was able to shoot this video before the quarantine began. The name of the ads is quite weird though, but then again it is fun, silly and "colourful" to say the least.
7. DiGi-Menyulam Budi
DiGi's Hari Raya commercial presents a real life tailor with special needs who recently became well known for making hospital gowns for frontliners who are doctors and nurses. Her viral feat was very amazing because she only did it with her bare feet. The video is quite simple but the underlying message is resounding-weaving good deeds into the lives of others.
8. Saji-Kuah Kacang Ibu
They say mothers are the best in the world that is why Saji-a cooking oil brand, uses a mother's love to spread the joy of Hari Raya. In this commercial, a mother is reciting a recipe for 'Kuah Kacang' for her daughter. It started off to be quite a light-hearted ad but turned abruptly to sad as the protagonist reminisced about her mother. Still this Hari Raya advertisement is very meaningful and shows how important it is to use good, reliable cooking oil that your mother uses.
9. TM-Ramadan/Syawal 2020
Though there are only images, music and wordings in this Hari Raya Advertisement, it still delivers the intended Hari Raya magic. This commercial highlighted the need to be grateful with what we have and that many front-liners are currently still risking their lives, fighting the pandemic while being away from their family.
10. Watsons-Jauh Di Mata Tetap Beraya
Sounds strikingly familiar with Tesco's version of Hari Raya ads right? But that is where the similarity ends. The commercial features a few celebrities being engaged in a video conferencing call. It is unclear if they are acting as a big family or simply chit-chatting with one another. Though this Hari Raya Ads is not as good as the others, it is fun to see your favourite celebrities in the same video, cheering you up for this different Hari Raya.
So how many of these Hari Raya commercials have you watched? Personally all the commercials have their very own ways to bring out that special Hari Raya magic sparks to cheer you up for this very different Hari Raya this year. So there you have it folks, the Top 10 Hari Raya Ads for the year 2020. Which is your favourite?
