After almost 2 years Oppo has finally unveiled the successor to the somewhat controversial Oppo Find X which was one of the best-looking smartphones in 2018 with a rather innovative slide-up camera set up. Fast forward to 2020, Oppo presents to the world Find X2 in two different variants namely the regular Find X2 and the advanced version-Oppo Find X2. Will they live up to the expectations set up by the older sibling? Let's find out.
Find X2 is a flagship smartphone with killer specs with great emphasis being placed on the display and of course all the cameras. Under the hood of Find X2, you will find the powerhouse Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with a whopping 12GB of RAM plus 256GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage. As for Find X2 Pro, the internal storage is doubled to 512GB. Both variants of Find X2 runs Android 10 with Oppo's in-house ColorOS 7.1 for more personalization options.
Like I have aforementioned, big focus is being given to the biggest real estate of the smartphone-display. There is a huge gorgeous 6.7'inch OLED display that pushes Quad HD+ resolution at 3168x1440 pixels. That will be 551ppi of pixel density for ultra clarity that our naked eyes cannot directly distinguish of course. Here is something that gamers will be happy about: the display has a refresh rate of 120Hz and can project 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut with a staggering contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. On top of that, the brightness of the display can peak at 1,200 nits in HDR while the overall maximum brightness will be at 800 nits.
Find X2 Pro Camera
Now let us talk about the strongest selling point of Oppo Find X2 Pro-the cameras. According to DxOMark's latest review, the cameras of Find X2 Pro performed amazingly well with a score of 124. It is now (correct at the time of the writing) the best-ranked camera phone, which makes it better than Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max. Its rear shooters consist of a triple camera setup: (1) 48MP wide angle primary camera which utilizes Sony IMX689 sensor with a large 1/1.43" sensor, (2) 48MP UltraWide sensor (Sony IMX586) and (3) 13MP telephoto lens with 5X optical zoom! The telephoto camera of Find X2 Pro is actually made up of periscope lens which can extend up to 60X maximum zoom and improved 10X hybrid zoom. According to DxOMark as well, Oppo Find X2 Pro scored 134 and 104 respectively for Photo and Video. The report commended Find X2 Pro for its autofocus system, dynamic range and noise-management to deliver top notch quality of photos and videos.
Find X2 Camera
Oppo's regular Find X2 will of course feature slightly downgraded camera system. Though the wide camera has been replaced with Sony IMX586 sensor while the 13MP telephoto camera is no longer equipped with periscope design. Hence you will only be getting 20X maximum zoon and 5X hybrid zoom.
Both variants of Find X2 sport a 32MP selfie camera, situated in the tiny punch hole. Both of the flagship devices also feature stereo speakers which will be a boon for avid gamers and binge-watching lovers. Find X2 Pro is also the first flagship from Oppo which comes with IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, allowing it to survive submersion of up to 1.5M for a maximum of 30 minutes. It is a pity that the regular Find X2 is not bestowed with similar protection.
Another different between Find X2 Pro and Find X2 is in terms of battery capacity. The more premium variant boasts 4,260 mAh of battery while the regular variant has 4,200 mAh. Having said so the difference is almost negligible. Both flagship devices support 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charging that can FULLY CHARGE your smartphones in just 38 minutes! That is really, really fast! Both Oppo Find X2 support 5G, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.
So will it be the Orange Leather or the Black Ceramic?
As for colour options, the premium Find X2 Pro will be available in Black (Ceramic) and Orange (Vegan Leather). The standard variant will be available in Black (Ceramic) and Ocean (Glass). Find X2 will be sold in Malaysia on the 14th of March while the premium X2 Pro will be available on the 21st of March. Both of the events will take place at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Why can't both of them be launched and sold at the same time? Beats me! 😂
