Tatum stated that he desires people to feel connected to him. He recalls entering the store as a child in search of the signature sneakers of his favourite players. As soon as he saw the shoe or put it on, he felt in some way in rhythm and closer to them. Tatum wants this shoe to serve as a conduit between him and his fans, bringing them closer together.

The Jordan Tatum 1 is the lightest basketball sneaker ever produced by Jordan Brand. One of the greatest reasons why Tatum excels in the NBA is that he’s a positionless hooper. His good handle allows him to advance the ball upcourt. He’s a natural scorer who can knock down the mid-range and has an improved long shot, and he can guard pretty much any position on the court. Therefore, when creating this new silhouette, Jordan Brand made sure to model the product after his diverse play. It had to be durable and lightweight so that his speed and dexterity on the court could shine through.

The sneaker's design is underpinned by a lightweight yet durable TPU frame that offers Tatum and future consumers the structure and torsional stability required for hard cuts, defensive slides, and tomahawk jams. Base layers are constructed from a breathable mesh knit and include padded collars for increased ankle support. A Zoom Air bag stuffed within the forefoot of the midsole unit delivers rapid energy return for basketball players on the floor.

Dominating Black Colourway

There are numerous distinctive touches that allude to his personal life. The slogan "I Just Didn't Quit," which is tattooed on his calf, and the coordinates for his hometown of St. Louis are located on the TPU piece. "Living Proof" is printed on the outer sections of the rubber, referencing his friendship with Bradley Beal and how he mentored Tatum during his path to the league. A “0” falls on the heels to signify his uniform number while his distinctive “JT” emblem adorns the tongues and his son’s name “Deuce’ arrives on three out of the first four launch colourways.

The first iterations of the Jordan Tatum 1 that will be released to the public are the "Zoo" makeup, which features wild tiger and leopard prints to represent Tatum taking Deuce to the public animal facilities, the "St. Louis" makeup, which is adorned with retro Cardinals colours and the name of his childhood street Archer Ave. on the tongues, and the "Barbershop" makeup, which pays homage to his viral warm-up video of calling himself "Top 5".

The "Zoo" hue will debut on April 7, 2023, in complete family sizes to launch Tatum's line. The remaining instalments will be released over the months of April, May, and June. The prices are as follows: $120 for adults, $90 for elementary school, $75 for preschool, and $55 for toddlers.
