Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus

The Garmin Tacx NEO Bike has been introduced roughly three years ago, just prior to the Covid-19 lockdowns. This has caused a significant increase in home training immediately thereafter. Since then, the home training space has fundamentally changed considerably. Behold the brand new Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus. It makes perfect sense Garmin updates its Tacx NEO Bike lineup with the latest tech.

No, it is not a complete redesign of Garmin's stationary bike (which is distinct from their Tacx cycling trainer), but a small update that should make it more competitive in the current indoor smart bike market. It preserves the silent operation and realistic road feel of the previous generation, as well as the virtual shifting and smart technology while introducing a number of nice enhancements.

Compact Form Factor

The handlebar of the Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus has been modified to replicate the feel of regular cycling handlebars, and the shifters can be tuned to simulate the feeling of the chain jumping on your choice of Shimano, SRAM, or Campagnolo shifters. They also provide five crank length options, up from three in the previous model, and a thinner seat post minimizes contact with the legs, which can be uncomfortable for some riders. Adjustable saddle position, stem height, Seatpost height, and handlebar position allow you to dial in the ideal riding sensation.

You can now "see" where you are riding!

It works in conjunction with the Tacx Training software, which causes the trainer to vibrate and simulate riding on various road surfaces, while dynamic inertia lets you retain a sense of forward motion dependent on the pace and gradient of the simulated path for an even more immersive riding experience. Once plugged in, the Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus can go uphill with ascents of 25 percent gradient max. The same applies when it goes downhill with a maximum of 25 percent gradient. Using kinetic energy, this device can create its own electricity for its internal battery, allowing it to function without being plugged in.

Feel The Vibrations and the Wind!

You can now feel the wind against your face!

The Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus allows you to do power sprints of up to 2,200 watts while preserving optimal pedal stability. In addition to measuring your pedaling style by constantly evaluating the position of your left and right legs, it provides consistent and accurate readings of power, speed, and cadence with an accuracy of up to one percent. You can track and monitor your performance thanks to the huge 4.5-inch display. Interestingly, a pair of fans flanking the display may imitate wind. You can actually set the fan speed to your power output. You can also cool yourself down by using the fans. The fans start spinning when your heart rate rises.
