Of course, a lot of people are not happy that they now need to pay for their verified status! Those who currently have it claim that they will not pay to keep their "verified" badge. Some have tweeted publicly in support of the new business model, agreeing with Musk that it will assist in the elimination of "bots" or spam accounts. To the uninitiated, the elusive blue verification badges have been used by Twitter to prevent the impersonation of noted individuals such as politicians, activists, and journalists just to name a few. Musk referred to the existing arrangement as a "lords and peasants system" and stated that those who pay $8 per month will also receive "half as many advertisements" and "priority in answers, mentions, and search."

The short turnaround for the new products reflects the speed at which Musk intends to move. One of the company’s product leaders in charge of Twitter Blue, Esther Crawford, tweeted on Wednesday that she slept at the workplace in an effort to make her deadlines.

Elon Musk replied, "Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8." It is kinda funny to get such feedback from your boss, no?

According to one source, Twitter will permit government accounts and those in locations where it cannot charge fees to remain verified. The press secretary of the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, stated earlier on Wednesday that the president and his administration had not yet examined whether it would be cost-effective to keep verification.
