Dyson pledges half a billion GBP (RM2.7 billion) to extend and accelerate its research and technology development across its beauty portfolio, stating ambitions to introduce twenty new beauty items over the next four years. So there will be 20 New Dyson Beauty Innovations In The Next 4 Years! Alongside this investment, Dyson unveils the findings of its most extensive hair research study to date, which deepens global understanding of hair kinds, style practices, and perceptions of hair types and hair health.
20 New Dyson Beauty Innovations In The Next 4 Years
Dyson has constantly invested in technological innovation. It revolutionised hair care with the introduction of the Dyson SupersonicTM hairdryer six years ago - a machine that employs fast, regulated airflow and intelligent heat management to dry hair swiftly and keep it healthy. Since then, Dyson has created an array of styling products designed to offer exceptional styles for all hair types while minimising exposure to high heat damage. The effectiveness of Dyson styling products is the result of a decade of research into the hair's structure, airflow dynamics, and the effects of thermal, mechanical, and chemical damage.
The Core of Dyson Has Always Been Research
A staggering 6,000 engineers and scientists have access to hundreds of laboratories spread across Dyson's four Technology Campuses. These areas permit rigorous testing of innovative concepts and technology around-the-clock. For Dyson to really comprehend how all hair types behave and to continue identifying better, healthier styling methods, the team develops test rigs and utilises cutting-edge technology. The use of equipment such as scanning electron microscopes, thermal cameras, and airflow laser smoke machines aids engineers in comprehending the effects of hair destruction, worldwide hair types, and high-velocity airflow.
The development of technologies for all hair types continues to be a primary priority of the research and development teams. For too long, styling tools have been misunderstood and misrepresented in order to fully accommodate varied hair types while preventing heat damage. This investment will develop new lab areas to enhance Dyson's knowledge of worldwide hair kinds and damage, while also supporting the company's efforts to diversify its beauty technology.
Dyson’s 2022 Global Hair Study-From Root To Tip and Cortex to Cuticle
Understanding owners is fundamental to the Dyson design process, which is supported by research in hair science. This research and understanding drive our engineering decisions and enable engineers to design machines that produce healthier, more fashionable hair every day, regardless of hair type. Because of Dyson's concern with hair, one of the greatest global hair studies has been compiled. This research studies hair health, hair perceptions, behaviours, and attitudes towards hair styling across 23 markets and 23,000 individuals, allowing Dyson engineers to acquire a greater understanding of actual styling challenges.
Key Findings of Dyson 2022 Global Hair Study
Hair perceptions & hair health misconceptions:
- Seven out of ten respondents report that their hair is damaged, citing dandruff, hair loss, and greying as their primary worries. However, these are not concerns about damage. Despite having damaged hair, 67% of respondents believe their locks are healthy.
- Nonetheless, respondents appear to comprehend what 'healthy' hair looks and feels like, describing it as shining (36%) and smooth (29%), and associating it with a healthy scalp (26%).
Dandruff, hair loss, and greying hair are not forms of damage, but scalp and hair growth concerns. Hair damage refers to the breakdown of the hair cuticle and cortex, which can lead to your hair looking frizzy, dull, or snapping off. The best way to achieve healthy hair is through prevention and minimising exposure to the causes of damage. This includes extreme heat which makes hair weaker and more susceptible to breakage and split ends. ~Rob Smith, Dyson Senior Principal Hair Scientist
Habits and attitudes towards styling:
- The Dyson worldwide hair survey finds that eight out of ten individuals wash their hair daily or once every two days.
- Six in ten consumers altered their at-home grooming procedures following the pandemic, but at least 20 percent have returned to their pre-pandemic behaviours, and this number continues to rise.
- Due to the pandemic, six out of ten people adjusted their hair care practices, style their hair less (17%) and used fewer hair products (9%).
- However, there is an ongoing commitment to fundamental hair care and styling. Three to four times per week, hair-holding spray, moisturising treatments, shine enhancers, and regular conditioners are utilised.
How often you wash your hair depends on your hair type, level of activity, and environment. Overwashing can be very damaging, stripping the scalp of natural oils while leaving hair dry. Generally, the greasier your hair or scalp is, the more often you can consider washing your hair. Straight hair may feel limp more easily due to oil build-up, while waves, curls, and coils absorb oil and require less washing. Be gentle to your scalp, and use shampoos suited for your hair type. Be mindful to consider the pollution levels in your environment and wash off pollution from hair too, as a combination of pollution and ultraviolet elements can cause increased levels of hair damage. ~Rob Smith, Dyson senior principal hair scientist
Dyson’s Latest Hair Care Technology
Dyson Corrale straightener
The Dyson Corral straightener has innovative flexing plate technology, designed to distribute heat and tension evenly across hair strands with each pass, hence decreasing the need for heat.
In conjunction with Dyson's 4-cell lithium-ion battery technology, the Dyson Corral straightener provides cordless performance, making it the ideal tool for individuals who wish to care for their hair by minimising heat damage without sacrificing style. The cordless independence permits style from desk to dancefloor, making it great for office parties or touch-ups en route to family gatherings.
The Dyson Corrale straightener provides three precise temperatures, measured 100 times per second by a platinum sensor. This technology interfaces with a microprocessor, which regulates the heating system to provide exact, accurate heat. The Vinca Blue & Rosé gift package for the Dyson Corrale straightener will soon be available in Malaysia. Stay updated.
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
Powerful and quick, the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is designed for various hair types. The tool employs a rapid but concentrated airflow, is designed for comfort in the hand, is quieter than others, and intelligently regulates temperature to protect hair from high heat damage.
Unlike conventional hair dryers, the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer regulates temperature output by measuring air temperature 40 times per second. Featuring Dyson's intelligent heat management technology, the Dyson Supersonic hair drier protects hair's lustre by preventing extreme heat damage.
The Vinca Blue & Rosé gift set for the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer costs RM2,499 and is available via Dyson Demo Stores and www.dyson.my.
Dyson Airwrap Multi-styler
The Dyson Airwrap multi-styler has the highest performance and efficiency of any previous Airwrap. Engineers at Dyson pushed their own design to miniaturize and magnify the Coanda effect, pioneering a fully customizable styling tool that offers a variety of styles for various hair types without the need for excessive heat.
Next-generation styling barrels with a rotating cool tip make it easier and quicker to achieve curls and waves without causing harm to the hair, thereby helping to preserve its strength. Users may now style the entire head, generating clockwise and counterclockwise curls and waves, without having to swap attachments in the middle of styling. In addition to the redesigned brush attachments, a new dual-function Coanda smoothing dryer is now available. Combining two attachments into one, the Coanda smoothing dryer conceals flyaways in a single pass without excessive heat and converts them into a powerful dryer with the flip of a switch.
A wide-tooth comb attachment designed for curly and coily hair adds shape, volume, and length as the hair dries. There are no sharp edges on Dyson's comb teeth, so they will not catch, pull, or otherwise do damage to the hair. The Dyson Airwrap multi-styler Vinca Blue & Rosé gift set is available at Dyson Demo Stores and www.dyson.my for RM2,999.
