Pokemon X Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

Should you get the latest Pokemon X Samsung Galaxy Buds 2? NO as the earbuds are only given stickers for the covers and an impractical Poke Ball.

Another partnership between the Pokemon franchise and the South Korean technology giant Samsung is now underway. This time it is the Pokemon X Samsung Galaxy Buds 2. This comes after the announcement of you guessed it-Samsung X Pokemon Galaxy Z Flip 3. Though for this partnership for TWS earbuds, the collaboration is somewhat limited if you ask me. However, I am sure Pokemon will still be happy to see their favourite pocket monsters around.

Unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 are not themed, which is a significant missed opportunity. Instead, it receives a Poke Ball-themed case for its original Galaxy Buds 2 casing.

Not only is this another missed chance, but it is also quite impractical. This is because opening the Poke Ball does not reveal the earbuds' case. You actually have to open another case (which is the Galaxy Buds 2 original case) first before you can get your earbuds. Something similar to the Razer Hammerhead Pikachu edition, where the original case has been replaced with a Poke Ball, would have made more sense. Perhaps this has been a design error on Samsung's part or just a sloppy copy-and-paste job by the designers?

This Collaboration Feels Incomplete

The fact that the sole Poke Ball option is the standard one is a further squandered opportunity. It would have been desirable to have other upgrade variations, such as the Great or Ultra Balls. Those who purchase the special edition Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 can still select from the five original colours contained within the Poke Ball.

Along with the Poke Ball, purchasers will also receive a random Pokemon sticker. These include, among others, Pikachu, the three Kanto starters, and Mew. As I have aforementioned, this might be the merchandise that Pokemon fans should kinda lay off due to the extent of the collaboration. Getting an impractical Poke Ball together with a slapped sticker is not doing the Pokemon justice, no?

The Pokemon special edition of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is listed with a price of KRW134000 (RM469) on the company's Korean website. Despite the fact that the item is displayed and priced, it is not yet available. Even if they become available, the likelihood is that they will sell out immediately. Additionally, it is unclear if this will be made accessible elsewhere in the future, but it is likely that it will be limited to the brand's native market.
