More and more smartphone makers are realigning their focuses on wearables such as fitness bands, earbuds and of course smartwatches. Realme has been really busy recently, rolling out a slew of gadgets that will complement their existing smartphones. The company has of course unveiled its very first smartwatch as well, dubbed Realme Watch. For starters, this smartwatch has a 7-day battery life and comes with an affordable price tag of RM299.

Realme Watch boasts a respectable 1.4-inch touch-screen LCD display that comes with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. At the moment, there are 12 integrated watch faces for you to toy around and more will be available for download (in the future) through the proprietary Realme Link App. Hopefully the company will encourage more developers to produce watch faces since this can be a make-or-break offer.

The bands of the Realme Watch can be easily detached with a push of a button which is a borrowed mechanism from Apple Watch. The silicone band is claimed to be soft and skin-friendly, making it suitable to be worn for long hours. There are 14 different sports mode available and you can track your duration, steps and heart rate while working out which is the bare necessities these days.

Although Realme Watch is marketed as an entry budget smartwatch, it is a formidable offer to disrupt the market with built-in heart rate sensor which supports 24-hour continuous heart-rate monitoring. On top of that, the watch is also equipped with an SpO2 sensor which can measure the level of your blood oxygen saturation. This nifty addition is really important for those who are always engaged in high intensity workouts.

With Realme Watch, you can also easily glance at the display to look at notifications from the apps that we usually use such as WhatsApp, Facebook, GMail and Twitter just to name a few. Apart from that, another great feature is the ability to control your music right from the Realme Watch via Bluetooth 5.0. Given its price point, it will be a shock to see the presence of built-in GPS but it will not be sorely missed. This maiden smartwatch from Realme has a 3-axis accelerometer, a vibration motor and the much needed IP68 dust and water resistance. Being able to repel dust and water is a huge plus for any wearable.

Tipping the scale at 31grams, Realme Watch has a thickness of 11.8mm which will barely be noticeable. Once it is fully charged via a magnetic dock, the smartwatch has a battery life of 7 days with the continuous heart-monitoring feature turned on. Switch it off and you can stretch its battery for another extra 2 days. Want the battery life to be extended to up to 20 days? Activate Power Saving Mode but of course you will be losing a lot of smart features and functionality. However without a built-in GPS, Realme Watch looks like an inferior match for Mi Band 5 which is way cheaper (RM130). Will you invest in Realme Watch with a price tag of RM299?

  3. The price is not bad. Although more expensive than Mi Band 5, but the shape and interface looks better

    1. I agree with you that some people might prefer larger form factor of timepiece to slap on their wrist.
