After 10 pulsating online and LAN qualifiers in our country since April earlier this year, the epic battles had finally boiled down to the 3 days of supreme battle! This was not before 283 teams had pitted against each other for the coveted qualification positions for the finals. Welcome to Taiwan Excellence Esports Cup (TEEC) 2019 Grand Finale where the best of the best fought tooth and nail in their virtual battleground!
Welcome to the battleground of TEEC 2019
The three-day tournament from 11th-13th of October took place at Berjaya Times Square where the finest and most determined of our homegrown esports athlete competed against each other in 3 main game categories namely CS: GO, DotA 2 and League of Legends. The champions of each of the respective game will walk away with a staggering RM10,000 each. To sweeten the pot-the victors for CS:GO will be given an elusive golden invitation ticket to Taiwan for a friendly match against four other top teams from Thailand, Taiwan, India and the Philippines! Those who triumph in this friendly will be bringing home another extra US$2,000. Talk about once in a lifetime experience huh!
Yours truly me was obviously very, very happy to be here! 😄
These two commentators really lit the whole arena!
Yours truly me thought that I had witnessed everything at the 9th TEEC Tournament Qualifier earlier in August. I was so wrong! The moment I stepped on the "battle arena" last Friday at Berjaya Times Square, I was totally blown away by the atmosphere of the whole gaming competition! The esports athletes with their noise-cancelling headphones were intensely stabbing their keyboards and clicking their mouse to outplay their rivals! Everyone was in their elements! The commentators of the game also did an unbelievable job to elevate the whole game-watching experience for me. Two thumbs up! I wish I could sit there and watch them play for the whole day~gosh!
Opening ceremony dance!
Do you know that this tournament is actually endorsed by the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)? This is in line with the promotion of #HealthyGaming platform which aims to empower our youth today to hone their problem-solving skills and teamwork. This is truly good news for those who would want to be professionally involved in esports. The tournament was inaugurated by Ann Hung who is the representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and this is what she had got to say, "When we started the tournament this year, we were confident in bringing out and delivering our intended message to esports fans and tech enthusiasts in Malaysia."
Ann Hung delivering her powerful and heartfelt message
What she had said was not merely empty talk and the overwhelming success and reception of the tournament speaks volume of the commitment and dedication of those who are involved. This is evident as the tournament received major backing from countless Taiwanese brands. All of the competing brands have actually worked hand-in-hand to contribute to the success of TEEC 2019. A round of applause to all these companies for their selfless effort.

Everyone got to test the best in tech
Thanks to these magnanimous participation, we Malaysians were given the opportunity to experience the highest level of esports through this tournament. Frankly speaking it was the best I have ever seen. The public who thronged to the event could also strut their stuff to play in sub-game competitions such as Super Smash Bros, PES 2019, Tekken 7 and even Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Those who won could bring back a slice of the whopping RM9,000 total cash prize! Dayum! On top of that, visitors were also treated to fun activities such as Quick DotA 2, Hardware Assemble Challenge, product auctions, lucky draw and of course tonnes of FREE gifts!

Can I bring this Asus ROG 2 home? 😂
Visitors also got to test the Predator Thronos with a price tag RM40,000 in person which I believe was an exhilarating experience especially if they were avid gamers. Yours truly me also chanced upon the Asus ROG phone II which made its first unofficial appearance. How I wish that I could bring it home since I am so into gaming~OMG~so tempting!
