The trend-setting Vivo NEX has finally been unveiled in Malaysia. Like Oppo Find X, Vivo NEX does not come with any notch which is achieved by hiding the selfie camera via "magic". Without the presence of the hideous notch on the display, Vivo NEX is the all-screen smartphone that you want to have for maximum viewing pleasure. Compared to the more glamorous Find X, the NEX boasts a bigger display screen but comes with a cheaper price tag.
6.59-inch of huge AMOLED display
The moment you hold Vivo NEX in your hand, you will be gleefully looking at the huge, beautiful 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 91.24% screen to body ratio. With a screen resolution of 2316 x 1080, rest assured that your gaming experience and dramas binge-watching sessions will be an absolute visual indulgence. Yupe! The glorious display stretches edge to edge without any notch to block your view.
Beautifully crafted glass back
Under the hood, Vivo NEX is powered by the avant-garde Snapdragon 845 processor with a whopping 8GB of RAM to make sure everything is lightning fast and snappy without any hiccup. In terms of internal storage, you have either 128GB or 256GB at your disposal which is supposed to be sufficient. Then again the absence of expandable external storage via MicroSD card is really a bummer. I honestly believe that Vivo should have retained MicroSD slot in NEX. This could be a deal breaker.
Stunning radical design
In terms of photography, Vivo NEX rear shooters come with a 12MP f/1.8 + 5MP f/2.4 dual-camera system. Vivo has integrated a 4-axis Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) for more beautiful photos and steadier videos. Here comes the star that makes NEX so speacial-front selfie camera. As there is no notch to house the front-facing selfie camera, Vivo NEX's 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera is cleverly concealed in a pop-up mechanism that can triggered in one second. Built using durable stainless steel, Vivo claimed that this pop-up mechanism has been rigorously tested to last for more than 50,000 pop ups without ant glitch.
The camera that pops up at your command!
Huge battery for a full-day use.
In-display fingerprint sensor.
Vivo NEX will be juiced by a huge 4,000mAh battery which charges via USB-C that should last you for one full day without needing to be plugged to the wall all the time. Here is another thing which I find is very interesting: the absence of earpiece. Yupe! Instead of relying on the traditional earpiece to project sounds, NEX emits sounds through the display! Dang! The best part is, Vivo NEX still comes with the much-needed 3.5mm headphone jack.
There is a dedicated button on the left to activate your personal assistant be it Jovi or other Artificial Intelligence such as Google Assistant. Vivo NEX will be running Android 8.1 overlaid with FunTouch OS. Just like Vivo X21, NEX features Vivo's third generation in-display fingerprint sensor which has better precision and speed. For Malaysians who want to be the owner of Vivoe NEX, it can be yours at only RM2,299 (US$690).
