In 2020, Lenovo released a foldable laptop, making it one of the firms that actually attempted this. Behold the second generation: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Laptop with a 16-inch display. Obviously, the company is doubling down on the upstart market of folding laptops.

The new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Laptop is an upgraded version of the world's first folding laptop. It comes with a 22 percent larger display, a 25 percent thinner chassis, and a bell-shaped hinge that enables the panel to fold precisely flat. When folded, it resembles a standard laptop, but when unfolded, it reveals a single huge screen that is very amazing.

Change From 12-inch Display To 16.3-inch Display

When folded, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold laptop resembles a modest 12-inch laptop but unfolds to a big 16.3-inch display when opened entirely flat. The complete OLED display features a resolution of 2560 x 2024 pixels, a 4:3 aspect ratio, up to 600 nits of HDR brightness, and a DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage of 100 percent. It is also touch-sensitive and pen-enabled, so you can use it as a 16-inch tablet if you so choose. This monitor is powered by 12th-generation Intel Core CPUs (up to i7), Intel Iris X graphics, as much as 32GB of RAM, and as much as 1TB of SSD storage.

It features many modes of operation. The landscape transforms it into a 16-inch all-in-one computer when mounted on the optional desk stand and coupled with your preferred accessories. Using the same stand, it may also be used in portrait orientation. There is also a book mode that transforms the device into a half-folded ebook reader, as well as a tablet mode for those who don't mind using a 16-inch tablet. You can also invest in the optional ThinkPad Bluetooth TrackPoint Keyboard and 4K precision pen to level your productivity.

External Keyboard and Stylus Pen

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold laptop features a 5MP webcam with an RGB sensor and an infrared (IR) sensor for Windows Hello, while an inbuilt Visual Sensing Controller adjusts the camera's orientation based on how it detects you're using the device. It also has three Dolby Atmos speakers, of which two are always active depending on the mode, and two sets of dual microphones for crisp voice pickup, with the system activating whichever is most appropriate depending on the mode. Onboard Dolby Voice enhances the speakers and microphones for two-way communications.

According to Lenovo, a set of graphite sheets within the housing distribute heat throughout the entire system, allowing the laptop to cool without the use of loud fans. Other features include a fingerprint reader, a 48Wh battery, two USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-C slot, an optional SIM card slot, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, an aluminium frame, and a recycled woven performance fabric back cover. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Laptop will be available with a starting price tag of $2,499 (RM11,249) in November 2022.
