This is my second time sending my car to have car window tinting. For my first car, it was a sedan with 6 windows in total. My second car being tinted is a 7-seater with 8 windows. Do You Need Car Tints For Your Vehicles?

If you live in Malaysia or any other tropical country, the answer is yes. You must get your car windows tinted. Even if your car manufacturer claims that car tint is included, only the basic is provided. If you want extra protection against the harmful UV ray, IR rays and heat, you must get your car windows tinted. If you do not get adequate car tint, you will experience discomfort and sunburn while being "baked" inside your own car.

What You Need To Know About Car Tint

First and foremost, you will need to know about your available budget and the type of car tint you want to be installed for your vehicle. More importantly, it boils down to how cool you want the inside of your car to be when you are driving around under the hot sun.

The "Dark Tint" is merely the VLT (Visible Light Transmission). Just because the tint is dark does not mean it can block out the heat well. Always check the UVR and IRR as well before making any decision. Remember: The higher % the UVR and IRR, the better!

As for TSER, the higher the heat rejection capability, the better it is in blocking out infrared radiation and ultraviolet rays. The higher the TSER of the tint film, the higher the UVR and IRR percentage will be. Of course, higher TSER also means the car tint will be more expensive. However, I suggest that you go for the more expensive car tint to get a better TSER. After all, prolonged exposure to IR and UV is very unhealthy for us, especially for our skin and eyes.

How Car Tints Are Installed

The whole process of installing the window tints for my car took around 2 hours which was pretty fast. First and foremost, all the windows needed to be cleaned before attaching the car tints. From my observation, it was really, really difficult to install the tint papers or films for the windows. The actually needed to detach certain parts of my car just to install the tint films.
