If you asked me if a smartphone could be used entirely to shoot a movie, I would have been laughing. But not anymore. Not after watching this terrifying Thai Horror Movie-Those That Follow, which is shot entirely using iPhone 13 Pro. There will be English subtitles available so do not be worried. On another note, this successful short Thailand movie shows that anyone can shoot a high-quality movie as long as they have the flagship smartphone from Apple

Since the quality of smartphones' cameras has steadily improved, they are now being used in the filmmaking process by directors and producers. Cameras of smartphones are not so advanced to the point where they are able to create entire works using only their phone's lenses.

So now all you need is an iPhone 13 Pro?

I want to disagree, but even I have to concede that Apple iPhone 13 Pro has the best video camera in its class at the moment. Apple has been working hard to remind everyone just how impressive its cinematic video mode is. Since then, the efforts have resulted in the creation of a Thai horror short film directed by Parkpoom Wongpoom. He is a genius who has made a name for himself through previous epic ghost movies such as Shutter (2004) and Alone (2006). I have watched both of these films multiple times!

No adequate lighting, no problem!

Parkpoom Wongpoom had collaborated with Apple on a 20-minute short film called Those That Follow. This chilling ghost movie is based on a true story about two teenagers who were involved in a robbery gone awry and were trying to avoid detection at a local ghost mask festival. Eventually, the teens discover in the most horrifying way that there really is no hiding from your sins, with the film highlighting the local belief of "Phi Ta Khon", or ghosts following people. I didn't know there was such a tradition, so the whole movie is quite interesting at the same time.

Looks like a masquerade party, no?

For the first time in nearly four years, Parkpoom is back in the director's chair with this feature film. As aforementioned, he shot Those That Follow entirely on an iPhone 13 Pro in Cinematic mode (which allows for focus point switching in post-production). Parkpoom hopes that his latest creation is able to inspire future filmmakers to shoot their own films.

You cannot run away from your sins.

There were low light conditions, and Parkpoom used iPhone 13 Pro Ultra Wide lenses with larger apertures. This combination allows him to achieve a film that has that chilling, eerie quality comparable to the best horror productions shot in Loei province (home of the Phi Ta Khon festival). You will agree when you watch this short horror movie as well.

Brilliant Directing by Parkpoom

Capturing every detail vividly with iPhone 13 Pro

Parkpoom said that the iPhone 13 Pro's ability to capture low-light images allowed his team to hide scary elements and ghosts in the shadows without sacrificing the overall quality of the footage. I guess we have to take his words for it, no? After watching this whole short movie, I cannot help but agree that Apple iPhone 13 Pro is indeed a capable smartphone when it comes to film-making!

The Ending of the Movie is Chilling

I told you so!

However, Parkpoom has been instrumental in ensuring that his horror movie Those That Follow will be a masterpiece in its own league, thanks to his directing and camera angles positions. The storytelling and plot were flawless too, breathing life into the whole movie. So are you ready to watch this 22-minute long horror ghost movie? It will be worth your time.

What do you think? Out of 10 stars, I could really give around 7 or 8 stars for Those That Follow, which had been shot entirely using iPhone 13 Pro. This short Thai ghost movie is in fact, better than tonnes of other run-of-the-mill ghost movies without genuine intent and storytelling. So are you ready to shoot your own short movies as well?
