It has been a long time since Segway first introduced its famous standing scooter. Now it appears that the company is focused on all other modes of transport, from hoverboards and e-skates to single-wheel transport and electric scooters. Behold Segway Superscooter GT2 which can hit top speed at 70km per hour! That's really, really fast for an electric scooter, no? It is way faster than my Dyu D3+ electric bike!

So far, electric scooters appear to be the most promising of the bunch of brand new electric-powered mobile transport. In fact, they are already widely used as a mode of transportation in major cities worldwide. With a number of utilitarian models already in its lineup, the company is focusing on recreational riding with the introduction of the Segway SuperScooter GT2.

Don't forget to wear your helmet!

Of course, by recreational riding, we mean riding extremely fast at 70KM per hour. Is this too quick for an electric scooter? We're moving quickly enough that we're not sure how legal this will be where you live. But if you live in Malaysia the top speed limit for an electric scooter is 25KM per hour. Of course, there are already a number of high-speed electric scooters in the wild, and people have been riding them all over, so we're guessing you'll be able to get away with riding this around most of your city.

0 to 48KM per Hour in 3.9 Seconds

Segway SuperScooter GT2 Acceleration

The Segway SuperScooter GT2 is powered by dual 1,500-watt electric motors that propel the machine from standstill to 30 mph in just 3.9 seconds and up to 70KM per hour. That's right, this thing accelerates at the same rate as some mopeds. Under the hood a huge 1,512 Wh battery powers the motors. Amazingly, the battery is capable of providing a range of 90KM, which should be more than enough for the majority of people's daily commutes. Heck with that mileage you can even afford multiple pit stops in between. While it is unlikely to cover that many miles if driven constantly at top speed, it should get you to a lot of places without paying a premium for gas.

The frame is made of aviation-grade aluminium alloy, which makes it strong enough to carry payloads of up to 330 pounds, while the long wheelbase, wide foot deck, and low centre of gravity provide exceptional stability even when cranking the throttle. Six riding modes (including Boost for maximum speed), a 900-lumen LED front light, daytime running lights, front and rear turning signal lights, and a transparent OLED on the handlebar that displays ride information are included.
