After "suffering" for months, I had finally had enough and decided to get it changed. Yes! I have just replaced my laptop keyboard which had been acting weirdly for the past few months. It had been really difficult to do my job initially as the output characters typed by me were sometimes different. So it was still bearable in the beginning. However, it got so terrible to the point that not a single word typed is correct.

My second plug-and-play external keyboard 😂

I resorted to buying an "external" keyboard to help me do my job. I ended up needing two external keyboards as the first one was broken as well. They were a great alternative originally but it soon dawned on me that this solution cannot be a permanent one. Plugging and unplugging a full-size keyboard into a laptop can be tedious and is certainly a hassle. Why bother to lug around that extra weight, right?

Do you DIY?

As I needed to use my laptop constantly for work and even more work (of course), I had decided against sending my laptop to a shop to get it fixed at the beginning. Taking more than 1 day to replace it will be a bummer for me. I had seriously considered replacing the keyboard for my laptop on my own. You could easily buy a laptop keyboard replacement on shopee for around RM20 - RM60 but then again I am not a computer whizkid and I definitely know nothing about repairing or replacing parts for laptops.

Doubt I could replace the keyboard on my own...

Instead of trying to save some money to replace my laptop, I honestly believe that an expert will be better equipped to do the job. I do not want to risk causing more damage, no? Hence, I went to a computer shop near my working place to get my faulty laptop's keyboard to be replaced. Surprisingly, the whole process took less than 24 hours and I was charged RM170 which I thought was relatively affordable. I have to thank the professionals at PC World Ong Kim Wee for an amazing job done!

I am really elated! The whole laptop feels brand new. 😁

I am glad that now I do not need to bring extra "weight" anymore. It feels really good to be able to type right off my laptop. The best part is I do not need to allocate extra space to place the external keyboard. I guess spending RM170 to replace the laptop keyboard that I had been using for 10 years is considered cheap right? Have you had such an experience before? Would you rather buy the keyboard on your own and DIY to replace it on your own or will you send it to a professional just like me?
