Netflix Will Stop Password Sharing Outside Your Household or more precisely strangers. So no more renting out your Netflix passwords for profit!
Netflix Will Stop Password Sharing Outside Your Household

Netflix has surprisingly stated that it is investigating new techniques to prevent household password sharing on its platform. Yes! You read that right. Netflix will stop password sharing outside your household.  One of the latest initiatives by Netflix includes a new setting that will require users to pay an additional price should they share their logins and passwords outside their households, or worse still, leasing the Netflix access!

According to Chengyi Long, Netflix's director of product innovation, while [separate profiles and multiple streams] have proven extremely popular, they have also generated some misunderstanding regarding when and how Netflix can be shared. As a result, households are sharing accounts, limiting our capacity to invest in outstanding new television and film for our members.

Netflix has started testing this new "restrictive" feature in 3 countries namely Peru, Costa Rica, and Chile. Subscribers in these 3 countries will receive notifications about the option to add an additional "streamer"  to their account at a discounted rate of 7.9 PEN (Peru), 2.99 USD (Costa Rica) and  2,380 CLP (Chile) respectively. Additionally, subscribers in the aforementioned countries will be able to transfer watching profiles to a new account or an Extra Member account, preserving the user's viewing history, My List, and tailored recommendations.

You Will Be Charged For Password Sharing!

Netflix will conduct research to determine the usability and feasibility of these two services for members in these three countries before implementing adjustments globally. Thus, will this be the last of Netflix's password sharing? Are you a culprit who has been knowingly sharing your Netflix password with someone who is not in your household? Or worse still, you are "renting" your Netflix access to other people for profit?

It is unethical and immoral to rent out your Netflix logins and passwords!

I honestly believe it is still OK to share your Netflix logins and passwords with your family members as long as you obey the simultaneous gadget limitations imposed by Netflix. Then again, I am strongly against the idea of "renting" your Netflix logins and passwords for the sake of making some money or should I say making your subscription a tad cheaper. What say you?
