I first started blogging back in 2007 as a hobby of mine as I really enjoy writing and sharing my views with other people. That was 14 years ago and fast forward to 2021, I can proudly say that I-Tekkaus (www.tekkaus.com) am one of the top lifestyle bloggers in Malaysia. I must admit that it is not an easy feat and I want to thank all my readers, supporters, and brands who believe in me and what I embody as a blogger. Still, I am humbled by the awards and recognitions that have been given to me.

Though a lot has constantly changed over the course of 14 years, I have always believed that as long as you put your heart and soul into something that you are passionate about, you will be successful in it. Hence, I have continuously improved my writing skills, tones, and styles to continue to be one of the top lifestyle bloggers in Malaysia.

When I first started blogging, I remembered vividly that Twitter and Facebook were the only two main social media that had dominated the Internet. Back then, blogging was considered to be the most popular media that individuals and brands use as a tool to disseminate information and knowledge. However, these recent years, the emergence of Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat has changed the landscape of social media.

Though a lot of so-called pioneer bloggers have abandoned their blogs, I honestly feel that blogging will always be relevant. Then again the only constant in this world is change. That is why I believe it is essential that blogging should be blending in with the social media evolution. Knowing that I need to adapt, I have embraced the new forms of social media such as Instagram to further help me enhance the visibility of my blog. Still, I believe that a blog will always be the mainstay as it belongs to me I don't have to be worried about my accounts being reported or banned whatsoever.

I have learned from my experience that writing a good piece of article is merely one of the important "ingredients" for your blog. The other important part would be to promote and market your blog to get more readers and exposure. A well-written blog will be useless if it is being not promoted, right? That is why we need to spend quite a lot of time and effort on impactful marketing to make sure that our blog can reach more people. In fact, these two factors have helped me to continue to be one of the top lifestyle bloggers in Malaysia!

Besides the length (quantity), you will also need to focus on the quality of your writing. Though I can be quite selective with my partnership, I always strive to do my best and provide more value for brands and companies that I work with. I am glad that all of my collaborations have been really successful.

I will always go the extra mile to help brands to promote their products and services. Besides writing a long, well-researched article, I will also ensure that I include many beautifully taken photos to enrich my blog article. I will even create an interesting video to be added to my blog article. Once my article is published, I will share it on all my social media platforms namely Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest just to name a few. In fact, each article of mine will be shared on at least 15 different platforms. That is what I call providing more value for my clients.

Those who have been reading my blog and following me on my social media have certainly witnessed how I have grown over the years. In fact, from blogging as an individual, my blog has now evolved to include my wife and kids as well. It is fun to be involved in a family activity to blog about what we are passionate about from food to traveling, gadget, and course about lifestyle. Thanks to blogging and social media, my family and I get to try so many different experiences that would otherwise be out of reach for us.

I have learned not to accept every opportunity that knocks on your door. In fact, it is dangerous to just accept anything just to get paid in cash or in exchange for products that do not really define you; In fact, you risk turning your blog and social media accounts into advertisement boards for advertisers to exploit. Yes! Your blog and Instagram feed have now turned into blank spaces stuffed with countless products and services that are irrelevant to you.

Someone will come along and easily replace you as you are not offering anything unique to you anymore. Eventually, you lose the identity that sets you apart from the rest. Hence, I am glad that I could resist a lot of temptations and truly be the blogger and social media influencer that my readers and brands can identify with. I can't be promoting something that I will never ever use right? Remember to not lose yourself especially in your blogging journey. Carve a name and an irreplaceable identity for yourself.
