Since we Malaysians are currently under quarantine because of the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of us could not dine in restaurant and hawker stalls. So besides home-cooked meals, sometimes we love to indulge in fast food as well. So yesterday we tried Nasi Atuk KFC, Zinger Stacker and Durian Balls (and of course more) for our dinner. After all we need to support local business right?
Ready to dig in!
I have been wanting to try Nasi Atuk KFC for quite some time now. I wanted to know how does Nasi Atuk KFC compare to Nasi Lemak McD. McDonald's have been doing a great job with their version of Nasi Lemak which I would rate as great and even better than some Nasi Lemak being sold elsewhere. Of course the Nasi Lemak from McDonalds is pricier than the ordinary version.
Nasi Atuk KFC-Is it good?
Not bad I would say.
We ordered 3 boxes of Nasi Atuk KFC. Each box consisted of 2 pieces of spicy fried chicken, hard boiled egg, anchovies, peanuts, cucumber, sambal and of course nasi lemak. I love how fragrant and creamy the rice was. The 2 pieces of spicy fried chickens that we had were crispy and of course juicy. My wife and daughter prefer the fried chicken from McDonald's but I have always been a big fan of KFC.
Nasi Atuk KFC or Nasi Lemak McD?
The spiciness of the sambal was just nice!
Don't forget to eat your Nasi Atuk KFC with "Atuk" (Grandpa) Ok!
Another interesting thing about Nasi Atuk KFC was the sambal. Unlike McDonald's sambal, the sambal for Nasi Atuk KFC is less spicy and came with a hint of sweetness. So if you cannot stand the spiciness of Nasi Lemak McD, you might want to opt for this version from KFC. So which is better? McD or KFC? It depends on your preference and it boils to the fried chicken and the sambal. My biased vote goes to Nasi Atuk KFC but then again they are mighty close and both are equally delicious. Nasi Atuk KFC comes with a price of RM17.99.
Zinger Stacker For Burger Lovers
Look at the oozing cheese and mayonnaise
Zinger Stacker is indeed sinfully lip-smacking!
Besides Nasi Atuk KFC, I also ordered another gargantuan Zinger Stacker for myself! It has been a while since I last had such a huge burger for dinner. If you love meat, you will definitely want to try out Zinger Stacker which is made of 2 spicy zinger fillets which are super crispy on the outside and damn tender on the inside. Throw in oozing cheese and you will be getting a burger that will make you drool non-stop! I know I truly enjoyed mine! Dayum! Who cares about calories right? This reminds me of the all-meat Zinger Double Down.
Durian Balls with premium D24 Durian Filling
These durian balls were heavenly!
Besides Nasi Atuk KFC and Zinger Stacker, we also tried the Durian Balls from KFC. I was skeptical initially as it says that each of the Durian Balls contains 100% pure premium D24 Durian filling. The moment I sunk my teeth into my Durian Ball (there were only 5), the warm durian filling started to ooze out and oh boy! It felt so good that my taste buds were also dancing. Certainly, authentic D24 Durian had been used for the filling indeed. Even my wife gave her nod of approval, saying it was really great.
The nuggets and fries were not bad at all!
We all enjoyed our dinner from KFC!
So which one do you like more? Nasi Lemak McD or this Nasi Atuk KFC?
Of course we ordered the usual nuggets and cheesy wedges as our side orders. I noticed that the fries from KFC tasted better than the ones from McDonald's. We were filled to the brim as slowly indulged in our dinner while watching TV. Throw in some carbonated drinks and our tummies almost exploded. It is a shame that I have yet to try the tandoori chicken from KFC. Perhaps next time. But for this round, we truly enjoyed all our sinfully scrumptious Nasi Atuk, Zinger Stacker and Durian Balls. Have you tried them?
