Fugo Ryori is the best Japanese restaurant In Melaka. This award-winning restaurant serves amazing food that will leave you wanting for more.
Being Japanese food lovers, my family and I enjoy dining in Japanese Restaurants to savour Japanese cuisines. So during our anniversary celebration, I decided to bring my wife to Fugo Ryori (富国料理) Japanese Restaurant Melaka which has been dubbed as the best restaurant to satisfy your craving for Japanese food. I have heard about this famous eatery for quite some time and I am glad I could finally say that I have dined in one. Established in 2015, Fugo Ryori was founded by a group of Malaccan chefs who want to prepare nothing but the best of Japanese food.
Fugo Ryori The Best Japanese Restaurant In Melaka
There are 3 branches of Fugo Ryori Japanese restaurants in Melaka
Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a golden plaque which read, "World Top Gourmet Awards 2019" for the Japanese Cuisine Category. That award is a testament that we were indeed dining in one of the best Japanese restaurants in Melaka. Guess our tummies were in safe hands, right? Being located in a prime area, the restaurant is a wee bit small for my liking. Still the ambiance was really soothing and the classic decorations of using woods had truly made our dining experience better.
A recognition to show that it is one of the best in Japanese cuisine
So it will be a great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary
Our two little babies...well they are no longer babies 😂
Knowing that this is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Melaka made it quite difficult for us to choose what to eat. After scrutinizing the menu like forever, we finally placed our orders. We had to book in advance to dine in and surely this award-winning restaurant was brimming with lots of patrons in no time. Waiting time for our food is relatively fast. The first to land on our table was our crispy appetizer the Shake Kawa. Guess the Crispy Salmon Skin with a hint of saltiness had really whetted our appetite for more.

Let's start our Japanese gastronomical journey!
In no time, one of our main courses was served-Tori Kimuchi Cheese Rice. Since we love rice and cheese, we ordered this crispy chicken, cheese, spicy kimchi rice served with sizzling plate. I must say that the chefs of Fugo Ryori only used the best ingredients. Besides I must admit that they were not stingy in giving us lots of cheese for this dish, so much so that I felt that we were eating pizza. We enjoyed our perfectly cooked pearl rice which was spicy and dovetailed with the thick cheese really well.

For the love of gooey cheese
Our next order had something to do with cheese as well. Introducing Kamo Cheese Kamameshi which was of course "enriched" with cheese as well. We could not resist the smoked duck slices that came with the gooey cheese with hot pot fried rice. Mix everything together and you will get a fusion of flavours busting and then melting in your mouth, giving you that ASMR sensation aka SYIOK! I love the evenly cut smoked duck slices which were just of the right texture and thickness.
Kamo Cheese Kamameshi
Equally cheesy and sinfully good!
Up next we had Curry Katsu Don which is a must-order for if you love curry. As usual you will have cutlets of chicken served together with Japanese Curry on your rice. I love the fragrance of the rice and curry. The chicken cutlets were tender and went really well with the curry. However, I wish that the curry could be a tad spicier. Than again, since it was rather mild our children could also savour the flavoursome Japanese curry.

So far so good right?
Of course we need more!
We also ordered something rather un-Japanese at Fugo Ryori. We had Shake Pizza which I thought was ironically better than the usual pizzas we ordered from Domino and Pizza Hut. The crust was thin and crispy, making every bite enjoyable and light. However the highlight had go to be the smoked salmon. They were distinctively scrumptious despite "swimming" amongst tonnes of cheese. Not bad really!
Shake Pizza aka Salmon Pizza
We can't help but feel that this is the best pizza ever!
No dining experience in a Japanese Restaurant will be complete without sushi right? Hence we ordered the one that really caught our eyes in the menu-Kamo Salsa Maki. We were totally swooned by the reverse sushi roll complete with crispy shrimp tempura, mango and topped the must-have smoked duck & tomato salsa. OMG! This combination will definitely blow your mind and get your taste buds dancing especially the fresh mango! Dayum! 🤤 This truly reminds of my Omakase at Miyabi Sheraton. By the way I was utterly impressed with the little artwork that they did with the wasabi.
Kamo Salsa Maki
This is simply a work of art
Oh! Don't forget the wasabi
Last but not least for our main course would be Tori Ramen as requested by Jordan boy. Apparently he wanted to have this Grilled Chicken with Ramen very badly thanks to the anime that he has been watching-Naruto. Guess he must have thought that eating a huge bowl of ramen will make him a great ninja too. He did enjoy his Ramen with grilled chicken though. I am proud that he could walloped the whole bowl which was bigger than his head. LOL 😂

When the bowl is bigger than your head 😅
Our anniversary luncheon will not be proper without indulging in sweet beverages that would fatten us up right? Jordan boy and Jasmine girl had iced blended chocolate and honeydew juice respectively. As for my and I, we opted to be a bit more traditional we the usual steaming hot green tea. To sweeten our palate even more for that day was something chilling-Vanilla Monaka. Guess we were so gratified by our meal that even the simple ice cream tasted heavenly. Ha 😁

You guys make my life sweeter 😍
We will definitely return to Fugo Ryori for more good Japanese food!
All in all, the four of us 7 different dishes plus 4 beverages and 1 dessert *burp* to celebrate this important day of ours. I must admit that the food at this Japanese restaurant has really met our expectations and tick all the right boxes. The ingredients used were incredibly fresh, the Japanese food served was by far the best in Melaka and the service was really outstanding. Thank you for providing us with such an amazing gastronomical experience for our wedding anniversary. Certainly Fugo Ryori Japanese Restaurant is arguably one of the best in Melaka when it comes to Japanese food.
