Facebook has upgraded its Messenger App by introducing Messenger Rooms that will allow you to video-call up to 50 people at the same time! This is definitely a great piece of news as more and more of us are turning to video conferencing applications to work or simply to keep in touch with our colleagues, friends and family during this lock-down time of ours. Thanks to the Covid-19 Virus, these video conferencing apps like Zoom, Microsoft Team and Google Meet just to name a few are booming by millions!
Call 50 people at the same time using Messenger Rooms
Of all the video-calling apps, Zoom is the most outstanding one for both the right and wrong reasons. Prior to the pandemic, it only has around 10 million active users daily in December and fast forward to present it has a whopping 300 million daily active users. The bad news is Zoom is way TOO EASY to be hacked and exploited, causing so many security and privacy problems. Hence it is good news that Facebook has decided to introduce their Messenger Rooms.
You can choose to host public or private Rooms Sessions
According to Facebook, you can easily use Messenger Rooms to start a video conferencing session directly from the Facebook App or the Messenger App. You can invite your friends, family or colleagues once you have created a Messenger Rooms Session just by sharing it on your Facebook's Newsfeed, Groups and even Events. Worried that you have uninvited guests? Fret not as you can choose to host private session and select your participants. Only those have been handpicked by you can see your private Messenger Rooms sessions and join them.
Have more control in your video conferencing!
Facebook has ensured that your privacy and security will be the company's top priorities. Hence you will get top-notch room moderation controls such as reporting and removing unwanted participants form your Rooms Sessions. On top of that you can also "lock" the Rooms Session to prevent unwanted guests or hackers from barging in while the video conferencing is taking place. So now more confusion and embarrassing moments.
Messenger Rooms will be available on your mobile and PC
Like all the other video conferencing apps, you can choose to host your Messenger Rooms sessions from your mobile phones or by using your computer. There is no additional app or software to be installed in order to start enjoying the benefits of Facebook Messenger Rooms. Want to make your video-call sessions more interesting? Enhance your your video-call session with AR effects on top of the new AI-powered features such as ultra-realistic 360-degree backdrops and mood lighting. Here's a bummer: Messenger Rooms is currently available in several countries only and Facebook has assured that they will roll out this new feature of theirs in the coming weeks. So do enjoy your video-calling sessions with your buddies during this quarantine period.
