More and more smartphone manufacturers are turning their attention to niche market that is tailor made for specific purpose and one of the most lucrative ones is gaming devices. So if you are looking for a great gaming smartphone, then you need to consider Xiaomi's Black Shark 3 which will be "attacking" our shores really soon on the 30th of April 2020. So will we be offered both the standard Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro? That remains to be seen.
X-factor in Black Shark 3
As for As for display, you will be feasting on a gargantuan 7.1-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display with 90Hz of refresh rate for Black Shark 3 Pro; The regular version will be settling for a smaller 6.67-inch Full HD+ display instead. The display of the advanced Pro model pushes a resolution of 3120x1440 pixels while the standard variant has a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels. So if you are into gaming a lot, you will of course appreciate the bigger screen for more visual real estate!
I am really digging the design
Under the hood, both Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro will be powered by Snapdragon 865 processor. The pro version will be complemented by up to a whopping 12GB of LPDD5 RAM together with 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. As for the standard Black Shark 3, you will only be getting 8GB of LPPDDR4x RAM which is of course slower.
Relatively good cameras
In terms of photography, both variants of Black Shark 3 will be sporting a triple-camera setup consisting of a 64MP f/1.8 main camera, 13MP f/2.25 UltraWide lens and 5 MP f/2.2 depth sensor. Flip the smartphone to the front and you will be greeted by the 20MP front-facing camera for all your selfies. Since connectivity is of utmost importance for every gamer, rest assured that both Black Shark 3 will be supporting 5G (SA + NSA) as well as WiFi 6.
Huge battery pack for all your gaming needs
Another very important feature that gamers will be looking for in a gaming smartphone is battery capacity. The good news is that the Pro version will have a 5,000mAh battery unit which will support an unbelievable 65W fast charging. As for the standard model of Black Shark 3, the battery is smaller at 4,720mAh and only supports 30W charging. Interestingly wireless charging is absent and is replaced by magnetic charging.

Here's another good addition that all gamers will be rejoicing in-3.5mm headphone jack is available! YES! You read it right. You will be able to hook up your favourite headphones and experience immersive sounds for more enjoyable game-playing. Black Shark 3 also come with stereo speakers for you to take your gaming to the next level (listening to silent foot steps) or simply enjoy watching videos and movies.

How much will a dedicated gaming smartphone cost? The regular Black Shark 3 being priced at RM2,799 for 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage; RM3,199 for 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. As for Black Shark 3 Pro, pricing will start at RM3,999 for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and RM4,199 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of Storage. What do you think about the pricing?
