When you hold it in your hand(s), you will be greeted by the huge, gorgeous 6.3-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Display that comes with a resolution of 2220x1080 pixels. The phone feels solid and classy in its glass-and-metal body. The rear design now looks more beautiful thanks to the funky colour gradient. Galaxy A9 comes in 3 different hues; Bubblegum Pink, Lemonade Blue and Caviar Black. The first two comes with gradient colours while Caviar Black gives you...well...all black back.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 that is complemented by either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. As for internal storage, you will have 128GB at your disposal which is considered good. Of course you can top up the storage with an expandable microSD slot. Here comes the most attention-grabbing design of the smartphone-the vertical quad-camera module!
Let's talk about the 4 cameras shall we? *drum roll* First and foremost, the main shooter (third from th top) is a 24MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture lens. Moving down is the secondary 5MP camera sensor whose main purpose it to capture the depth of object for better portraits. On top of the main sensor is the 10MP telephoto camera that will equip you with 2X optical zoom though it has a smaller f/2.4 aperture lens. Finally, the top most camera is an 8MP (f/2.4) ultra wide shooter that will give you a 120 degree field of view. There you have it folks, 4 cameras for every situation that you will need.
Flip it to the front and you will see the 20MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture lens. Nope...no four cameras here. Just one. The cameras come with Scene Optimizer which is capable of recognizing up to 19 different scenes. If you have taken a bad shot, the camera will inform you via its Flaw Detection feature. I guess it will be annoying if you keep on getting prompts telling you how bad you are at taking photos. Ha :D
The fingerprint scanner will be at the back and you can unlock the phone using the front-facing camera unlike Vivo NEX Dual Display. LOL :D The other are the usual bells and whistles such as Bluetooth 5.0, 802.11ac WIFI, NFC and device comes with Android 8.0 Oreo. Galaxy A9 will be juiced by a huge 3,800 mAh battery and it does support fast-charging via USB Type-C. I wonder if the cameras will really work as advertised. Gotta check it out soon. To get this smartphone with 4 cameras, you will need to pay RM1,999.
