Frustration...and more frustration for Manchester United. It appeared that United could finally nick a hard-earned victory to move up the table only to be denied by Southampton with 2 minutes remaining. The 88th minute equaliser earned the Saints a well-deserved point. David Moyes had looked on course to notch his very first back-to-back victories when Robin Van Persie put the host through at Old Trafford. It was Adnan Januzaj who provided the flying Dutchman the assist for his 7th goal of the season.

Robin Van Persie broke the deadlock.

The 18 years old Adnan Januzaj who have just signed a new 5-year contract provided the inspiration that United needed by unleashing a sensational 50-yard pass that send Wayne Rooney racing through. Southampton's goalkeeper-Artur Boruc, was of course there to deny Rooney. But Van Persie was at the right place at the right moment to seize the rebound and put it at the back of the net the give Red Devils the lead. Southampton clawed back, pressed hard and got the goal that they wanted.

Who should be blamed?

In fact the Saints worked hard to close down on United with 54% of possession and they have more goal attempts and shot and targets 18 (7) compared to United's 12 (5). A worrying figure that showed Manchester United could not hold on to their lead. Southampton turned their late dominance by scrambling in a goal to deny Red Devils their 3 points. A very disappointing night indeed. Now United is slightly above the mid table-8th position...a bad place to be after 8 matches. So should we be hitting the panic button already David Moyes?

Perhaps David Moyes should be given more time?

Not really I guess...perhaps we are expecting this season to be a dismal one for the new Red Devils boss? He, himself had earlier mentioned that his new United is in a "transition period", so they could underperform in many ways...or is it his excuse to mask weak tactics and inability to bring out the best with what he has? Very convenient huh! Even his predecessor-Ferguson, had mentioned any trophy would be an amazing achievement for his replacement. *sigh* So let's hope that United will start to win all their remaining matches or this might be their worst season in decades...
