Jahit-Petronas Hari Raya Advertisement

Again, first thing first Tekkaus would like to wish all my Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Hari Raya means nothing if we do not know the basic, most purest purpose it is celebrated which is gratitude. People nowadays are too busy with their hectic lifestyle that they can't even "afford" to stop and stare; We are getting too immersed in things which don't deserve too much of our attention and a result we have neglected what is truly important to us-each other. That is why from time to time we need a reminder to show us what we really need in life.

Family is everything.

Such reminders have always come in a medium that has never failed to touch us-advertisement. To get an inspiring advertisement that can tactfully deliver its message and instill its intended meaning is even more difficult. But that is what one company has been striving to do time and again-Petronas. Despite losing their influential director-Yasmin Ahmad, Petronas has continued their tradition of producing advertisements that can remind us of our roots; of our humble beginnings-Family.

"Jahit" (sew) tells the story of a single mother who owns a tailor shop. Together with her teenage daughter, both of them take on life's hardships in their stride. They believe that adversity has its advantages and that sincere hard work will always be rewarding. I personally love this story of how a mother made so much sacrifices just to make end meets; Likewise, the filial daughter studies very hard in order to repay her hardworking mother. Like the 8-minutes clip, life is about each other. Again~Selamat Hari Raya.

P.S.: Though not as good as the late Yasmin Ahmad' work, Jahit still delivers profound its message to all of us.
