Yesterday happened to be the 15th of Ghost Month. So it has been half a month since all those hungry ghosts have been roaming freely on our streets. So they have been feasting for almost 2 weeks now. I am sure they have shoveled tonnes of food into their tummy huh! A lot of us (especially the Chinese) woke up early yesterday to prepare and cooked some delicious cuisines for our "hungry" departed ones. Actually they are not really that starved at all. We offered food to our departed loved ones as a symbolic ceremony to show them they are not forgotten. It's like our way of remembering them.

Enjoy your feast mommy. :)

In fact I love this tradition of ours. Ever since I was young (or maybe even when I was in my mom's womb) I had already learnt how we should appreciate those who are no longer with us. Some of you might say...why only remember the dead and treat them good when they are gone? Honestly by observing this ceremony, we have actually learnt to appreciate those around us better. I have understood more about filial piety just by helping out during these ceremonies. That is why I hope my children will continue this tradition even after I am long gone.

What my mommy had savoured. :)

I believe your mouth must be watering right now...

I hope my late mommy had a feast. Those food served was more than enough for say...5 people? Ha :D So did you pray and offered food to your ancestors, late grandparents and your departed loved ones? Everyone has their own beliefs about how to appreciate and show gratitude right. This is just one of the many ways how we show our affection towards those who are only able to linger in our heart and memories. I hope my ancestors, grandparents and mommy had a feast. Last but not least Happy Hungry Ghost Month to all the other ghosts out there.

We will always miss you~mommy~
