On my latest visit to Taiping, my father-in-law brought us to one very special place which is the famous Kolam Ayer Panas Trong in Changkat Jering. I am sure a lot of you don't know about this hot spring which has been featured in newspaper and magazines right? So it was a pleasant surprise to be able to visit this hot spring. The special thing about this hot spring is that the water is medicated with herbs making it the first of its kind in Taiping.
Honestly this is my very first time visiting a hot spring. Very "jakun" right? I am glad that father-in-law decided to bring us to Kolam Ayer Panas Trong, if not I will still be hot-spring-less until now. Ha :D This 1 acre hot spring was started back in 2002. As mentioned earlier, you will be able to soak or bath in this hot spring which is medicated (on demand) with special herbs. So don't be shocked to see the pool filled with greenish water...no it is not because of algae. It is green because of the herbs. :)
It is claimed that the warmth of the hot spring (49°C) is able to burn fat and cholesterol. Moreover the hot spring water can also provide therapeutic effect for our nerves especially injured leg. Serious? Actually my father-in-law brought us to Kolam Ayer Panas Trong without prior planning. So we didn't really prepare anything such as extra clothes, towel etc. In the end only my father-in-law and I managed to soak our feet.
Yeah! We (father-in-law and me) are enjoying the hot spring water.
Actually you don't have to pay anything if you wanna soak your legs in the water from the hot spring. It depends on how much you want to "donate". Each visitors will be given a large pail of water to soak his or her feet which can last around 30 minutes. If I am not mistaken there are 3 different pools where visitors can enjoy their hot spring bath and swim. You can call in to reserve one of the pools if you want your whole family to spend quality time here in this hot spring.
There are also several shacks beside the pools for you to have a rest before plunging into the hot spring pools again. Quite thoughtful of them huh! Do you know that besides the 3 "open" pools, you can also have the luxury to bath in the "closed" soaking rooms. The normal soaking rooms can only fit 1 person at a time VIP rooms can accommodate 2 persons at the same time. Wanna have your very own peace of mind while enjoying the hot spring? Try the "bilik berendam" then aka soaking room.
Feel that your body is "locking" up? Why not get a massage here? Yes. They also provide body massage service for RM30 per hour. Relatively cheap right? Soak yourself in the hot spring and then have a relaxing massage. Not bad at all. There is also a mamak stall near the hot spring vicinity for you help you gain the calories that you have burned at the hot spring. Ha :D Kolam Ayer Panas Trong opens every day from 9a.m. in the morning until 12 midnight. Yep! So you can even drop by at this hot spring after your dinner in the evening.
