I have heard about discussions in forums regarding the speculated next-generation iPhone for a few weeks. And of course back then I thought it was just hoax, hypes made by iPhone's fanatics. How wrong was I. After a few weeks of conjecture, surmise; a few debatable postulations and endless guesstimate...Apple finally stepped out announced the advent of the new iPhone 3G S at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. Although it resembles the same design as its older sibling-iPhone 3G, the new, revamped iPhone 3G S is armed with a host of improvement that users have been asking for such as the copy, cut and paste function plus MMS support for sending multimedia files in the likes of photos and video clips.
So what does the extension "S" stands for? According to Apple it simply denotes "speed" as they have made some really significant fixes and improvements to their latest arsenal both hardware and software. Here's what Apple iPhone 3G S could give you: offer double-dose of the speed and performance compared to its stone age brother. Meaning that now you can render webpages quicker and launch your applications faster.
Besides that, the iPhone 3G S will also have the new iPhone OS3.0 update in its hood that will feature notable enhancements such as Spotlight Search, landscape keyboard across multiple applications and of course the much-yearned copy and paste functionality. What else? Well...this iPhone 3G S will also take advantage of the OpenGL 2.0 standard that enable developers to create amazing looking 3d graphics mobile games for both the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Now let's move on to the iPhone 3G S's hardware "department". Now this baby comes with a 3-MegaPixel autofocus camera with video-recording capabilities. The autofocus feature will allow users to "tap to focus"...which means when you can touch the display screen to select which area you wish to focus on. Neat! Users can also record VGA quality videos at 30 frames per second and even tweak their images on the phone. Plus the video feature also makes sharing video clips via e-mail, MMS and Youtube looks like ABC.
Here's something new: voice control. Now users can control their iPhone simply by speaking to it. Wow! So now this sleek new iPhone can detect your voice? Holding down the home button brings up the new voice control interface. Using this feature, users can say a contact's name to make a call, play songs and even ask iPhone what song is being played. Great. This phone is aimed to make lazier. Then again...can the phone recognises all the different ascent?
Are you lost?
Other whistles and bells added are the digital compass that will work in tandem with the default maps application, integrated support for Nike Plus and hardware encryption for protecting your private information. Another noteworthy refinement made is the improved battery life. So you can now enjoy your iPhone longer before plugging for recharge. Sounds like plenty of new features to toy around with this iPhone!
Nike+
I wonder if those so-called proud iPhone owners who snatched up the old iPhones from Maxis weeks ago will feel the pinch. Man, if I were them I will damn freaking cheated by Maxis. It's like they are trying to shackled us to sign with them by using an old "bait". But well...they are too late. Perhaps Maxis will let them trade in their "old" iPhones for the new ones. So who has the last laugh? Hahaha :D
Apple said the iPhone 3G S will be available in USA in another week's time (i.e. 19th June 2009) at a suggested retail price of ONLY US$199 (RM697) for the 16GB model and US$299 (Rm1047) for the 32 GB model. What the...this is ridiculously cheap compared to the old ones...And these new iPhone 3G S will land on our shores next month. Really? Serious?
Keyboard anyway you want it!
Boy! I really can't wait to get my hands on this iPhone!!! Rm700 is not expensive. All this while I thought Apple's products are only for those uptown folks. (Again) How wrong was I. Maybe it's time to upgrade my old Nokia? I have been a Nokia fan all my life. This looks like a wind of change...an imminent one...Will Nokia be dethroned?
