Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) Has Been Released

Behold the brand new Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) that has been released. It comes with a stylus, expandable storage and Dolby Atmos speakers.

Motorola has introduced the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023), the most recent iteration of its signature smartphone with a stylus. Since the introduction of the Moto G Stylus 3 years ago, I believe it has been a good alternative for Samsung's expensive flagship devices with an S Pen. The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) is a mid-range device. It is also one of the first to feature Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, with the company pledging performance that is 20% faster than that of the previous year's model.

The 2023 model of Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G has a smaller 6.6-inch 1080p LCD screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz which I think is not bad. If you enjoy watching dramas and movies using a smartphone, you will appreciate its stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos. It doesn't have an IP rating for security, but Motorola has said it has a "water-repellant" design to keep it safe from spills, splashes, and light rain.

Compared to MediaTek's Helio G88 from the previous year, the latest Motorola Moto G Stylus is powered by a Qualcomm SoC which packs more processing capabilities. This is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot that supports expansions of up to 2TB. This is something that a lot of so-called expensive flagship smartphones are lacking-expandable storage and it is a plus point for me.

In terms of photography, the Motorola Moto G Stylus sports a 50MP main rear camera, but it doesn't have OIS like last year. It also has an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 16MP selfie camera in the notch. It has a 3.5mm speaker jack and supports 5G, NFC, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and Wi-Fi Direct. Can't believe that we still have an earphone jack in 202. Unlike Samsung's S Pen, the built-in pen still can't sense pressure or connect to other devices which is understandable.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) is juiced by a huge 5,000mAh battery that supports 20W wired charging. In addition, the phone includes Android 13 with Motorola's MyUX overlay and a side-mounted biometric reader. Additionally, Motorola guarantees one OS version upgrade and three years of security support.

The 6GB+256GB model of the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) comes with a price tag of US$499  (RM2,299) and comes in colours of Black and Rose Champagne. As of now, I don't know how much it will cost or when it will be available in other countries. I do hope that it will land on our Malaysian shores soon.
