Thanks to the prevalence of earbuds, we can now enjoy wireless music and entertainment without being tangled up. However, choosing an affordable pair of earbuds that can still deliver high-quality audio is an entirely different story. Introducing the new Huawei FreeBuds SE which aims to do exactly just that and more.
Huawei FreeBuds SE Review
Judging from my previous experience of using Huawei's smartphones, earphones, and Huawei Band 7, I expect Huawei FreeBuds SE to live up to its reputation as a Huawei product. So far, these new budget-friendly earbuds have been doing a pretty decent job to let me enjoy my daily music, podcasts, Netflix binge-watching during lunch break, and of course for my video calls as well as my Zoom sessions with colleagues. Simply put, these earbuds execute all the basic tasks pretty decently.
5 Reasons Why I Love Huawei FreeBuds SE
1. Fit Comfortably
Unlike other earbuds which will cause my ears to ache after prolonged use, Huawei FreeBuds SE is surprisingly comfortable. I believe this is due to its semi-in-ear design which has been engineered to the contours of my outer ears snuggly. In fact, I do not even feel any pressure on my ear canals. Sometimes, the FreeBuds are so lightweight that I don't even know they are stuck in my ears.
Besides the design, I believe the silicon ear tips play a vital role as well to ensure the earbuds could be worn comfortably for a long period of time. You will have 3 different sizes of silicon tips and I am glad I could find the perfect ones for me. I am sure you can easily find your perfect fit too.
2. Cyrstal Clear Audio Quality
For the price that it is offering, the audio quality of Huawei FreeBuds SE is really top-notch. You can enjoy crystal clear sound thanks to the combination of a 10mm dynamic driver plus an ultra-sensitive polymeric diaphragm. You can even pick up any subtle vibrations that provide the rich texture of audio for your ears.
You can indulge in all your music sung by your favourite artists as a balanced tri-channel audio framework will emphasize their vocals. Hence, it feels like you are listening to your idols singing next to you.
3. Noise Cancellation Calls
It will be irritating to hear noises when I am making a call. I am glad that my Google Meet sessions have been noise-free thanks to the dual-mic beamforming technology. I notice that when I hook up my Huawei FreeBuds SE during video-conferencing, I enjoy crystal clear calls.
My colleagues mentioned that my voice is now clearer on my end. Apparently, the earbuds could differentiate my voice from the ambient sound around me quite accurately. I have tried making video calls in crowded places and the noise cancellation is still reliably good.
4. Low Latency
If you are a gamer like me, you might have suffered "missing sounds" or "lagged audio" due to latency. Huawei FreeBuds SE employs Bluetooth 5.2 technology which can significantly reduce latency. So far, I have yet to hear any sound going MIA while I am gaming or watching my favourite series on Netflix. 2 Thumbs up for sure for this!
Watching Netflix quietly at midnight 😂
5. Battery Life of Up to 24 Hours
The whole package of Huawei FreeBuds SE has a rated battery life of 24 hours including the case. For music playback, the earbuds could last for 6 hours before needing a recharge. I have not really tried its limit for voice calls but the company claims that you can talk non-stop for 4 hours which I doubt many of us would, no?
I have put the rated battery life to test and I could actually get 23 hours of combined "juice". So if you are a heavy user, most like you will only need to recharge your case once every 2 days, which is pretty decent.
Should I Buy Huawei FreeBuds SE?
All in all, I am really satisfied with the latest budget-friendly earbuds from Huawei. I love its lightweight design as well as its comfortable fitting. Practically, these hassle-free earbuds will excel in your gaming-playing, movie-watching and video-calling. It does all of its basic jobs perfectly. Available in 2 different colours white and Baby Blue, it will certainly give you the best bang for your money. With a price tag of only RM199, it is a steal if you ask me.
