With the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition set to make its debut this summer, the luxury automaker shared a few details about what's to come during an Instagram Q&A session with followers. It appears that a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric vehicle Lyriq will go into production before the end of the year. I can't help but be amazed by the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq AWD Trim. It will be putting 500 battery-electric horsepower on the road.

What a beauty, right?

This represents a significant increase in power over the 340 horsepower produced by the single motor in the rear-wheel-drive Debut Edition and places the Cadillac in the same performance league as the 480 horsepower Ford Mach-E GT and the 516 horsepower BMW iX xDrive50. Cadillac did not provide a torque figure for the AWD crossover — the RWD model produces 325 pound-feet — but did state that it will be able to tow 3,500 pounds if necessary. According to the information Cadillac has published thus far, this statistic outperforms the towing capacity of the single-motor variant, which is 0 pounds.

The single-motor trim, on the other hand, created quite a bit of noise. For the RWD variant, Cadillac had previously indicated that it could travel more than 300 miles on a single charge. During the Q&A session, the business provided a more favourable EPA estimate of 312 miles on a fully charged battery, which was received well. So it does not need a portable charger for EV, no? The AWD trim, which is expected to have the same Ultium battery with 100 kilowatts of useful capacity, can be expected to reduce that amount by a few kilometres. With a DC rapid charging capacity of up to 190 kW, the Lyriq is capable of recharging the battery for approximately 75 miles in 10 minutes. When connected to a Level 2 charger, the battery recharges at a rate of approximately 54 miles per hour.

After a two-week wait, on May 19, order books for the production run that will follow the Debut Edition become available. The Lyriq has reportedly sparked more than 230,000 "expressions of interest," according to the company. If Cadillac could convert half of those hand-raisers into purchasers, Lyriq sales in the United States would be on pace to exceed last year's total sales of Cadillac's entire model line in the country. It is estimated that the Lyriq will generate a 20% increase in conversion rates even at a 10% conversion rate. Additional trims will be available for purchase in the fall, with deliveries expected to begin the following year. For more information, head over to Cadillac's official website.
