The following are the announced guidelines for school reopening on the 21st of March 2022 for school-going children in Malaysia. Based on the academic calendar, children in Years Three, Four, and Five from schools with more than 600 pupils will rotate across classes in the new school term, according to Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin. The Education Minister stated that students in Years 1, 2, and 6, as well as those with special needs enrolled in SK Pendidikan Khas, the Integrated Special Education Program, and Supplementary Food Program (RMT) participants, will attend physical school sessions without rotation.

All of these regulations apply to pupils enrolled in private schools, including expatriate and international schools," he declared yesterday during a news conference. For primary schools with fewer than 600 students, Radzi stated that all public and private school students, including those attending expatriate and international schools, must attend face-to-face classes without rotation.

However, under guidelines for school reopening on the 21st of March, private primary schools with more than 600 children, including expatriate and international schools, applications can be made to the Education Ministry for consideration to operate completely without rotation. For secondary schools, all students will participate in two weeks of home-based teaching and learning (PDPR) beginning March 21. In other words, they will not have any physical lessons until the 4th of April 2022.

Secondary school students will have online lessons for 2 weeks

Beginning April 4, all secondary school students will attend face-to-face courses without rotation. This policy also applies to pupils enrolled in private institutions, including expatriate and international schools. Radzi stated that students in Form Two, Three, Four, and Five from boarding schools, as well as students enrolled in pre-university, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, and international examinations, will undertake PDPR for two weeks prior to the beginning face-to-face lessons on April 4.

Full-scale face-to-face lessons from 4th of April onwards

Form One pupils who have been accepted into a boarding school will register online. These students have the option of undergoing PDPR or attending a day school near their residence until the boarding school's admission date is published. However, private boarding schools with the capacity to manage the entire student population can operate normally, including new Form One pupils.

Students pursuing the Malaysian Vocational Certificate or the Malaysian Vocational Diploma are permitted to attend school on a rotational basis in accordance with the authorised study calendar. In matriculation colleges, students are permitted to return home during mid-semester breaks and festive holidays and to return in stages to college. Students will participate in face-to-face instruction and learning in college, while those staying at home can participate via PDPR.

Under the Guidelines for the Management and Operation of Teacher Education Institutes and Matriculation Colleges 3.0, only fully vaccinated matriculation students are permitted to return to college. Regarding Teacher Education Institutes, Radzi stated that all physical classes for all programmes will follow the existing academic calendar under the guidelines for school reopening on the 21st of March 2022.

Fully vaccinated matriculation students can return to college

He stated that kids may dress appropriately if the old uniforms are no longer appropriate. If parents choose not to take their children to school, this is not a disciplinary violation, but they must notify the school for record-keeping purposes. Additionally, Radzi stated that the Education Ministry will introduce Covid-19 screening for primary school students as part of the Health Ministry's Covid-19 testing policy, with testing conducted at home under the supervision of parents or guardians.

Parents can choose not to send their children to school

School officials will identify affected pupils and give test kits with a Covid-19 Self-Test Implementation Confirmation Slip for students to take home. Results of screening tests must be communicated to the school following established procedures. It is hoped that with this announcement of guidelines, students will be more prepared for their new academic year.

  1. I wish COVID would go away and things would go back to normal the way it used to be before. Such a mess!!! All fully vaccinated...and yet, all positive cases, I hear - for whatever reason, they see it fit to cover it all up!
