I have reviewed two amazing backpacks from Targus namely the Cypress EcoSmart Hero and Newport Ultra Slim. This year at the CES, Targus unveiled a brand new Cypress EcoSmart Hero with a built-in tracker to help you locate your missing backpack!

Targus has claimed that should your Cypress EcoSmart Hero backpack has gone missing either stolen or being misplaced, you will be able to track it via Targus app using your smartphones. Interestingly, Targus has mentioned that this tracking feature is compatible with the Find My feature of Apple since the technology is very similar to Apple AirTags.

Easily track and locate your backpack!

You could reverse-track your smartphone too by pressing the built-in tracker in the backpack. So if you have misplaced your smartphone, just hit the button and ping will be sent to your smartphone, revealing its location. Unfortunately, it is claimed that this feature is currently only exclusive to Apple iPhone users. Perhaps Android smartphone users have got to wait.

The Built-in Tracker For Your Backpack

Perhaps parents will want to get their children this Targus backpack with a built-in tracker as you can activate its geofencing feature. Yes! Once the backpack is being moved out from designated areas, you will get alerts on your smartphone. You can also trigger the sound on the backpack remotely to serve as an alert or a warning by using the mobile app.

Made From 26 Plastic Bottles

For the uninitiated, Targus Cypress EcoSmart Herb Backpack is one of the "greenest" bags one could ever own. It is made from sustainable, recycled materials. To be precise, 26 bottles were shredded into pieces, heated and then spun into yarn that is used to create both the exterior and interior of the backpack.

IPX3 Water Resistance Rating

The backpack has a water resistance rating of IPX3 which makes it suitable for outdoor use. Targus claims that the battery life of the built-in tracker can last up to 1 year before needing a recharge via USB. It is expected to arrive in summer and it will come with a price tag of US$150 (RM629.90). It is not sure if this version of Cypress EcoSmart Hero Backpack will make it to Malaysia or Singapore.
