Clearing Weeds From Our Garden

We had cleared weeds from our garden. Using garden tools, we have cleared all the weeds from our garden on our own as well as rocks and stones.

After busy painting our home, the next huge task that we undertook was to clear our garden which was full of weeds! Initially, we wanted to outsource this job as it looked like a lot of work. Unfortunately, we could not get hold of anyone due to the pandemic lockdown. Hence, we had to DIY to clear all the weeds from our garden.

Our final goal is to be able to plant some trees and carpet grass in our garden. Therefore, we needed to completely remove all the weeds which have been terrorizing our newly bought house for "ages". Judging from the length and density of the weeds, we knew it would be a really time-consuming job. However, my dad and I refused to back down! Challenge accepted!

Yes! My dad and I did all the heavy lifting to clear the weeds and to prepare our garden or should I say vacant space. If you think that clearing the weeds would be easy-peasy, then you would be frowning later. After slashing and cutting the weeds which you could see (on top of the soil), we needed to unroot the weeds. But before that, we had bags after bags of slashed or cleared weeds to take care of.

We needed to clear rocks and cement as well!

Eventually, we managed to clear around 20 bags (black plastic bags) of weeds which was a lot right? Then comes the second part which I reckon was even tougher-unrooting. The roots of the weeds must be completely removed or else our initial labor would be for naught. We had to use a trowel, shovel, spade, and virtually everything to unearth the roots.

Our Jasmine girl is really tough and she doesn't mind getting dirty and soiled!

Some of the roots were really stubborn and it took us more than the expected time to get rid of them. Besides the pesky roots of the weeds, we also needed to remove lots of rocks and stones which would make it difficult for us to plant our desired carpet grass. I even had to use a hammer to remove certain cement concrete which had ended up mysteriously in the garden.

So what should be our next step?

After doing the heavy lifting, our other family members were allowed to come and help us as well. Our Jordan boy and Jasmine girl had some fun doing some removing any "traces" of the weeds and small stones. Don't worry, no child was being exploited. It was a really good team effort with all family members contributing to clear weeds from our garden. It took us almost one week to completely clear all the weeds from our garden. So what's next?
