Busy Painting Our New Home

We are currently busy painting our new home on our own. Painting a house with your family members is a good bonding time and you can also save money.
Busy Painting Our New Home

I have not really been "online" these few days or weeks as our whole family is currently busy painting our new home. After most of the renovation work has been completed, we started to purchase buckets of paint to give our new abode a fresh new coat. After surveying for some time, my wife and I decided to invest in Nippon Paint as it is more reputable and hence gives us greater peace of mind.

Our beloved daughter made the paper boat hat for all of us. 😍

Of course, we could have settled for something more affordable. However, since this new home will be the last property that we purchase to live in personally, it will be more ideal to spend a little bit more (at least RM3,000 so far), right? After buying all the tools and brushes, we headed to our new home to breathe new life into it. But before that...

Make sure the walls are clean before you paint them!

No space will be left "un-cleaned"!

Gotta make sure that all the surfaces are clean first!

We had to make sure that the surfaces of all the walls are thoroughly cleaned and free from any speck of dust (which is impossible). So my wife, Jordan boy, Jasmine girl, and I got rid of all the dirt that we could see with our naked eyes. We grabbed hold of moistened sponges and started to clean all surfaces. Of course, I made sure that I would be the one climbing up and down to do all the hard-to-reach spaces.

Let's start painting our home on our own!

This is how you should paint it!

Painting your home with your family is quite heart-warming! 😍

You might be asking...why do you have to clean and paint the house on your own? The first reason is the cost. After surveying the market, we have to fork out at least RM10,000 to paint our new home. Yes! RM10,000 to hire other people to paint our new home and that does not include the cost of the paint. So we decided to paint our new home on our own to save RM10k. LOL 😁 The second reason was of course because of the worsening Covid-19 pandemic.

Even my dad is excited and joined in as well to paint!

Painting a house with family members

So right now we are still in the midst of painting our new home. Due to the so-called MCO Total Lockdown in Malaysia, it is not convenient for us to move around in our cars. Hence, my wife will be working from home while taking care of our 2 children while my father and I will be going out on a daily basis to paint our new home. My wife and 2 kids will come and help whenever they could. So far, after 1 week of painting, I would say that the painting progress is at 60% completion. Then again, we still have plenty of time to go.

This is the most difficult part to paint! 😂

Spilled paint

Unfortunately, I crash-landed (once) and spilled my paint! *ouch* 😅

How about you? Do you paint your house or property on your own? Or do you outsource this painting job for others who are supposedly more professional? I am glad that we are painting our new home on our own as we can save RM10,000 which is a lot and we could ensure that the quality is guaranteed and no corners are cut. The best part, painting is actually a great time for us as a family to bond and it can actually be quite therapeutic!

  7. I have been painting my rented condo each time the tenants moved out. I saved thousands too by slowly painting it myself. Your ceiling is very high and I love that!
