Jordan's HIP Book Review Competition For World Book Day

Do you know that today-23rd of April is World Book Day? One of the most important reasons why this very day is celebrated is to promote the enjoyment of reading. Our son-Jordan boy, had participated in the HIP Book Review Competition for the celebration of this meaningful day. He loves to read a lot, be it English, Bahasa Malaysia, or even books in the Mandarin language. So let's find out what are his favourite books.

This High Immersive Programme (HIP) Book Review Competition is organized by the Education Ministry of Malaysia to enhance the usage of English in school. I thought this is really a good competition as we could let Jordan boy practise what he has learnt in school and at home. Since he loves reading a lot, this is an opportunity for him to share his favourite book(s). Of course, this also serves as a good platform to hone his speaking skills.

Book Review Geronimo Stilton Phoenix of Destiny

For this competition, Jordan boy chose to review Phoenix of Destiny under the Geronimo Stilton Series. We have purchased and borrowed countless Geronimo Stilton books for him and his sister to read since they were young. They love the books because they are colourful and full of beautiful illustrations and not to mention the quirky and funny antics of Geronimo and the other mice. I am sure a lot of young avid readers love all the storybooks featuring the famous mouse who seems to have unlimited adventures to enjoy, right?

What do you think Jordan was trying to gesture? Watch the video to find out. 😜

Prior to the recording, Jordan boy spent a few days rehearsing the script after school each day. I guess he did have fun, practising the different gestures and facial expressions that he wanted to showcase in his video. He also worked on his voice inflection and pronunciation a lot. Though he still has got a lot of improvements to be done, we are nonetheless happy that he has given his best in this HIP Book Review Competition.

So what do you think about Jordan boy's book review? Ha 😁 There is no doubt that reading is really very essential in our life, especially for young children. As parents, my wife and I are glad that we could inculcate the habits of reading in our children. Both of them rarely have any "screen time" using any smartphones or tablets. Instead, they could be seen reading most of the time in our home, in the car, or when we are dining out. If parents want their children to love reading, you can let them try reading Geronimo Stilton's books which I thought are amazing and visually stimulating.
