Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T-The Best Budget 5G Smartphone

Last week saw the release of Mi 11 and now Xiaomi has just unveiled its latest Redmi Note 9T which is the company's budget-friendly 5G smartphone. A lot have claimed that this mid-range smartphone is a carbon copy of the China-only Redmi Note 9 5G thanks to its ultra similar name and of course features as well designs. Will Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T be the best budget 5G smartphone in year 2021? Let's find out.

Under the hood, Redmi Note 9T will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset that is supposedly two times faster than the budget Snapdragon 665. Unfortunately the maximum RAM configuration is only up to 4GB which is not sufficient anymore. You will get up to 128GB of internal storage and luckily you can expand the storage it via MicroSDXC card.

In the visual department, the budget 5G smartphone is furnished with a 6.53-inch Full HD+ LCD display which is not too shabby given its price tag. However, you will be disappointed to know that the refresh rate is only a meagre 60Hz. So you have to think twice if you want to use it for serious mobile gaming. The "DotDisplay" cutout on the top left of the screen houses the 13MP front-facing selfie camera.

Unfortunately you will only have 60Hz of refresh rate!

Flip it to the back and you will be greeted by the triple camera setup which consists of the main 48MP camera, 2MP macro lens and 2MP depth sensor. Housed in the "Halo Ring", the triple camera array can level up your photography creativity via Pro+ RAW, Night Mode, Portrait mode and of course HDR. Though not entirely head-turning, your photos will be good enough for social media feeds.

Interestingly, the Redmi Note 9T supports simultaneous dual 5G sims. This is quite a rarity for a mid-range smartphone. Audiophiles will be happy that there is a 3.5mm headphone jack for you to indulge in high fidelity music. Heck! There is even the old school FM Radio if you are still listening to DJs yapping on radio stations. LOL 😁

It is the best budget 5G smartphone so far in 2021

Launched officially in Europe on the 11th of January 2021, it will be available in 2 different colours of Daybreak Purple and Nightfall Black. I wish there would be more colorways to choose from. The basic Redmi Note 9T with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will be available for RM1,129; While the advanced variant of 4GB RAM plus 128GB of storage comes with a price tag of RM1,329.
