Jubilee Clock Tower Is Queen Victoria Tower

So why was this Jubilee Clock Tower built in the first place? For the uninitiated, it was constructed under the command of a local millionaire called Cheah Chen Eok. He built this tower in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. So how tall is this building? It stands 60-feet tall with each foot actually representing a year of the Queen's 60 years' of reign.

Who Built Jubilee Clock Tower

Are your surprised to discover that the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower is leaning to one side just like the Leaning Tower of Pisa? Honestly I only found out about this after scrutinizing my photos. Back then Cheah Chen Eok paid Straits dollars to erect the magnificent tower complete with a Moorish dome. The tower consists of 4 distinct tiers with the octagon-shaped base followed by two tiers with embellished balconies and windows. There is even a working clock on each side. Roman pillar hold the topmost tier with an exquisite golden dome cupola.
