Last year the National Landscape Department decided to make the already beautiful Taiping city even more tranquil and attractive by building Taman Botani Perak. This is the third national botanical garden after the inception of Johor Botanical Garden and Sarawak Botanical Garden. This new Taman Botani Perak is situated near the other famous Taiping Lake Garden. This botanical garden is created for research, scientific conservation, education and public recreational area. When we visited this new Taman Botani Perak, it was still relatively new and not many people could be seen. In fact I recalled there were only one or two other visitors besides us. Spanning 56 acres, this botanical garden will eventually have 13 different gardens once it is totally complete. The 13 different gardens are Perakensis Garden, Melayu Perak Garden, Northern Zone Endemic Garden, Fernery Garden, Orchidarium Garden, Wetland Garden, Palmatum Garden, Bambusetum Garden, Zingiberium Garden, Ridzuani Garden, Etnobotany Garden, Aroid Garden dan Nadir Fruits Garden. Surely this will be a heaven for visitors who love plants and flowers.

Besides the 13 gardens, Taman Botani Perak will also feature Dataran Botani, Dataran Orkid, Dataran Palma, Laman Tema and Laman Keramaian for visitors to relax and have a leisurely stroll. Hence when we had the opportunity to visit this Taman Botani Perak in Taiping, we were really elated. After all, it was newly opened and of course everything was brand new. I was truly impressed by the scale of this botanical garden. It is not only very, very huge but also well managed. It was really soothing to bask in the serene ambiance created by the massive amount of negative ions released by all the trees and plants over there. It is true that being surrounded by foliage gives us that zen feeling.

Taman Botani Perak is located strategically in Taiping

There were quite a lot of plants that we have never seen before in Taman Botani Perak. Hence, we pulled out our smartphones and start snapping photos of those exquisite flowers, shrubs, flora and basically anything that was green in colour. It was claimed that in total, there will be 120 different species of plants gracing the garden in the future. Jordan boy and Jasmine girl were equally ecstatic to look at the verdant gardens. They were happily running around while we admired the beauty that mother nature has conjured. It was a indeed pleasure to see the garden flourishing with the majestic Bukit Larut as its backdrop.

We were absolutely immersed in our surroundings, so much so that we lost track of time while being spellbound by everything in Taman Botani Perak. When the leaves started to turn into gold, that was when we knew it was dusk. The breathtaking golden hue of the setting sun made us feel so at peace.
