We had always wanted to try this famous Ah Thai Curry Mee Noodles (十八丁咖哩面) in Kuala Sepetang and luckily it was open on that day. It is always crowded

Its operating hours are from 3p.m. till 7p.m. so you can be rest assured that a beeline will start forming very quickly after noon. True enough the place was really crowded and we were in luck that a group of customers just left, vacating a table for us. We had of course ordered their famous curry mee noodles for our lunch. We needed to wait for a while as there were really a lot of hungry mouths to be fed. While waiting for our food, I actually wandered around the city a little bit to take in the view. It was really an enjoyable stroll and I bought a copy of Chinese Newspaper and some cartoon cards packs for my children.

Equally delicious Loh Mee

Around 10 minutes later, our famous Kuala Sepetang curry mee noodles were finally served. This signature curry mee noddles was served prawns, tofu puffs (豆腐卜), bean sprouts and sliced fish cakes. You could also choose to add their specialty blood curd (猪血) which is definitely an acquired taste. The curry was really thick, creamy and rich in coconut milk but not too strong for one's liking. Al~dante I would say. The broth had this strong but pleasant fresh prawns fragrance that was really appetizing.

Secret ingredient: FRESH prawns

If eating lip-smacking curry mee noddles is not your cup of tea, you can also try their Loh Mee, Prawn Noodles and Laksa. We ordered their Loh Mee for our children as it was not spicy. By the look from their faces, I could tell it really made their taste buds jiggled in a good way of course. You also must try their irresistible deep fried prawn-fritters which were really crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The prawns were really, really fresh and tasted very sweet. I guess that is why this place is always crowded.

  2. Curry mee is not the in thing here - don't think there's any place we can get it here except maybe at Pappa Rich or Nam Heong but of course, no pig's blood at those places.
