Approximately a month ago the whole world started to "brew" and drink the Dalgona Coffee. On social media such as Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, your feeds will be inundated with photos and videos of people showing off how they have successfully made their Dalgona Coffee. Are you one of them? Yours truly me was not impressed and of course I was not following the main stream trend and hype at all. 😕

This is the world-famous Quarantine Coffee!

Still I cannot deny that Dalgona Coffee is a phenomenal as so many people were so into it. Do you know how it all started? Apparently the Dalgona Coffee that you guys are so crazy about is also know as Quarantine Coffee. This is because more and more people who are stuck at home due to Covid-19 Pandemic decided to try their hands creating their very own versions of Dalgona Coffee.

So how did this viral coffee get its name-Dalgona?

So who on earth made this coffee so popular? Where did the coffee get its name in the first place? Apparently a Korean actor by the name Jung II-Woo referred to the taste of a coffee that he drank in Macau being very similar to the "dalgona" honeycomb toffee that he had in Korea. So that was when the #DalgonaCoffeeChallenge started and became and "pandemic" itself, being a household name in every continent. It was (is) so viral that you yourself would be tempted to make one for a sip...which I didn't. LOL 😁

How do we make Dalgona Coffee? It is pretty easy so to speak. My wife said that you could "brew" one by (1) whipping granulated sugar, instant coffee powder and hot water together until the mixture becomes creamy. Then you will (2) add the mixture to cold milk. If you want you can (3) top your Dalgona Coffee with cocoa powder, coffee powder or even crunched oreo to add texture to your coffee.

It was too sweet for my liking

So the other day my beloved wifey made one for me and it was really a refreshing beverage to say the least. Then again I realized it was too sweet for my liking and I am not really digging the texture of the Dalgona Coffee. Or perhaps it was not done really well in our first attempt? 😝 So have you tried this Quarantine Coffee or should it be renamed as Covid-19 Coffee? 😂
