They say it is very auspicious to see a lion dance troupe during Chinese New Year, especially if you are in a shopping complex? LOL :D So the other day, while we were shopping in Tesco Taiping...we were suddenly dumbstruck by the boisterous beatings of drums and deafening clinking of cymbals...when we turned...there they were strutting their stuffs in full glorious prosperous colours-red and pink. So what did we see? Lions of course...grooving to the beats and their usual music. :)

Yeah~that's what I am talking about. Let's groove to the music!

As we all know a lot of Chinese believe that Lion Dance performance will bring good luck to houses and business premises. Usually we will be able to see these lions dancing during the official opening of businesses and it is a common sight during Chinese Ne Year. Then again...Tesco is a British entity and yet they believe in such custom. Perhaps they know that such belief will bring them lots of luck and of course money?

Nom~nom~nom!

So on that eventful day, we were very happy to be able to see not one, not two but three beautiful lions were dancing in the Produce Department, one being a supposedly "young" lion. :) After dancing (playing + fooling around) for a few moments, these 3 lions finally got down to real business. With their jaws wide open, they "gobbled up" some vegetables and oranges to be regurgitated later as auspicious offerings to the store managers or supervisors. Look at how excited when they (Tesco representatives) received the peeled oranges and vegetables from the Lions while shouting "HUAATTT AR!".

"Huatt ar!"

Jordan boy and Jasmine girl were  there to witness how this whole dance was performed. They were rather intrigued themselves and maybe a bit scared at the sight of these beautiful lions moving around. But I am sure they will be enjoying these Lion Dances even more in the future...because I love it a lot? LOL :D It is always heart-warming (for me at least) to see Lion Dance during Chinese New Year...because I, myself wanted to be a lion dancer...Ha :D

P.S.: Yours truly wish that I can invite some Lions back one day to my home during Chinese New Year...but I understand they can be quite expensive huh. :/
