Enjoying Omar's Icy ABC & Cendol Desserts

In case you don't know, we Malaysians are currently being burnt under the magnifying glass, no thanks to the heat wave which is expected to last until September. I believe the sales of air-conditioner have been skyrocketing with more households trying to make their homes cooler in this increasingly scorching hot weather. All the rooms in my home are fitted with "snow flakes" spewing machines. But what if we are outside of our icy home and sanctuaries (e.g.: air-conditioned shopping complexes, buildings etc.)?

Welcome to Omar's place. :)

That means we need something to cool us down right? Something that cool us down from the INSIDE. And how do we get that something in our "inside"? Yes. We have to eat them. Ha :D So when the weather gets hotter, we need something to nullify the effects of global warming. What better way to cool ourselves than to savour a bowl (or 2 or maybe 3) of icy ABC and cendol right? That's exactly what my family and I did when we were in Taiping the other day.

One afternoon after we had visited some places, we decide to stop by at Larut Matang Hawker Centre. The weather was unbelievably hot, hence getting some cold, chilling refreshments sounded like a brilliant idea. So we decided to have some desserts at Omar's-who is my father-in-law's good friend. For starters we had a plate of delectable "Popiah". Then we ordered ABC also known as "Ais Batu Campur" (Mixed Ices) and my favourite dessert cendol. Besides desserts, we were also served with fresh coconut water which was very sweet, naturally sweet of course.

Let's see how a bowl of cendol is being served by Omar. :)

Then~let it snow (with shaved ice)

Pour it some Carnation milk

We are done? Nope. We still need our "crowning glory".

Yes. A scoop of ice cream!

Top your delicious bowl of cendol with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

And...some coconut milk!

Voila~a bowl of mouth-watering (chilling) cendol is ready to be served!

Then...I got myself another bowl of cendol. I just couldn't help it. With sweats trickling down my face, the shaved ice looked like the perfect salvation for me. The sight of my favourite desserts being served in front of me was so damn irresistible...top it with a scoop of chilling vanilla ice cream! Yummy! With the heat wave won't be going off anytime soon...it's good for us to have some desserts to cool ourselves down a bit. You don't want to be dehydrated, no? Come~let's have another bowl of cendol! Ha :D
