On the first day of Hari Raya my father-in-law has actually brought us to somewhere special; Somewhere we can see a lot of birds flying around gracefully in Perak. Yupe~all of us excitedly went to the famous Kuala Gula Bird Sanctuary. This bird sanctuary is actually located in the northern part of Laut Matang Mangrove Forest. I believe we traveled around 40 minutes from Taiping to this haven where our birdie friends would seek refuge. While on the way to our destinations we enjoyed the lush greenery that landscaped our views. Aww...Mother Nature truly knows how to make us relax...

By the way do you know that Kuala Gula actually meant "Sweet Estuary"? I wonder why that estuary is being known as sweet? Because there used to be a lot of sweets here? Ha :D Upon reaching our destination...we were a bit dejected as we couldn't see any bird at all. Why? What had happened? Apparently we were there at the wrong time...maybe all of them had gone to somewhere else? Or perhaps it was not migratory season yet? I understand that usually there will be around 200,000 of migratory birds from 50 different species flocking to Kuala Gula. But not that day.

We were wondering where the birds had been...

Then again all of us were happy to be there nonetheless. Personally I really enjoyed the scenery. Spending my time here at Kuala Gula just by looking at the river and tall, green tress had really liberated me. This relaxing atmosphere allowed me to loosen up...away from the hustle and bustle of busy Malacca. The gentle breeze that caressed my face made me feel so alive...I could feel that sense of relieve gushing in my veins...urging me to idle... Don't you just love this kind of feeling?

Aww...there is even a house in the middle of the river.

For your information there are also chalets specially for those who love bird-watching. We also saw lots of "stranded" boats beached by the riverbank. It was after all the first day of Hari Raya. Ha :D After lazing around for half an hour we dragged ourselves into the car and left this haven. It was such a shame that we could not see any bird. Then again we were really pleased to be in Kuala Gula. It was a timely de-stress getaway for all of us. I wanna thank my father-in-law for bringing us to this wonderful sanctuary. Maybe next time we can meet up with those 200,000 migratory birds.
