8th of March-All Hail The IWD!

Woman United!

08-03: I'm sure lots of Malaysians are familiar with 8th of March right? Yeah! The day we were hit by the unexpected political tsunami. It was the day when Barisan National's government stumbled in 5 states 1 year ago! But did you guys know that on the 8th of March each year is also the International Women's Day (IWD)! Yes, IWD is a major day of global celebrations of economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and of course future! Women rocks!

Today is the 98th IWD which is celebrated by all women around the world! The maiden IWD was officially started in year 1911! It's been awhile huh! Success of the first International Women's Day in 1911 exceeded all expectation. Meetings were organized everywhere in little towns and even the villages halls were packed so full that all the male workers were asked to forfeit their places for women. Then these men stayed at home with their children for a change, and their wives, the so-called "captive" housewives, went to meetings. Nowadays women are more powerful compared to their "peers" decades ago right?

Ouh...my...will this come true? Ha :)

Originally IWD was celebrated solely for political purposes, but now the day has lost its flavor and became simply an occasion for men to express their love to the women in their lives in a way somewhat similar to Mother's Day and Valentine's Day! That's great right? But I believe we should treat the women in our lives with love and respect every single day! So on this faithful day, everyone especially the men should be grateful to the women in our lives. Are you? I am, truly I am.

Can you see your mother's tears?

I would also like to dedicate this post exclusively to all the women who have sacrificed their whole lives for their families. I also want to take this opportunity to thank my late beloved mum for giving me all she had when she was still alive. My mother had toiled, sweat and bled for this family. She's the Goddess who has lifted my soul times and again! Until today she's still my inspiration! It's a shame that I couldn't repay her. It's shame that many among us did not realize how much the women in our lives has done for us!

Show them you care...
...before it's too late!

To all the mothers (especially single mother) who have been there all this while to shower us with their loves and unconditional supports; to all the wives who has always come around when we are down and get our feet back on the ground; to all the women who has always been faithful and omnipresent when the going gets tough...this post is for you! And to my late grandma, my beloved mother and my one and only dearest wife-You are My Immortals!

Happy International Women's Day! Oh, of course we should celebrate women's day everyday, just like I celebrate my birthday everyday.

Come to think of it, when is International Men's Day? Don't have? How come?

foongpc said...

Oh, don't forget Earth Day on 28th March 2009. Are you switching off electricity at 8.30pm on that day?

foongpc said...

Btw, wanna join me for a trip to China? Come to my blog for details! : )

Tekkaus said...

Harogenki-->Perhaps you have been treated very good all this while! Hence you didn't feel the difference? Ha =)

Tekkaus said...

Foongpc-->You celebrate your BD everyday? Ha =) That's amazing! Then do you have cakes and candles every single day too?

Hmm...I don't think there'll be any Men's International Day! Perhaps the magnitude of our contribution is measured differently! ;)

28th of March? Sure! You bet! By doing so perhaps I'm going to stay offline for a week? Hmm...that's still under consideration!

Really? Can join your trip? Ha =)

I don't celebrate birthday with cakes and candles. So expensive! I just celebrate with bread and kaya. Since I eat them everyday, I guess I'm celebrating birthday everyday! Haha!

Going offline for a week? I thought you did that before last time when I almost wanted to make a police report regarding Tekkaus missing in action? Haha.

Yeah, of course can join in fact now trying to find a room mate. I'm going with Jam and his friend this July.

Tekkaus said...

foongpc-->War...cakes and candles considered to be expensive to you? With bread and kaya? Very traditional huh! Haha =) So now we know that you eat bread and kaya everyday lar.

Yeah! Maybe! Besides no I'm too busy with my projects and assignments. Feel like drowning! =/

I do not think we give our women enough recognition for all that they do, especially putting up with us men. lol I don't know what I would do w/o my wife and her ongoing support of my network marketing endeavors. Thanks for the post and bringing this very important day to my attention.
