Congratulation Shah Rukh Khan but I can't believe it when I flipped my newspaper today. I'm flummoxed though. I'm sure the eminent Shah Rukh Khan will be equally perplexed as well when he knew about this. So what is the yardstick used to measure an individual's eligibility to receive an award? I'm not sure though. Perhaps it has to do with the contribution made to a certain community or maybe, just maybe...sometimes...favouritism by the bestow-er? But I'm sure this exceptionally acclaimed Indian actor who's the king in Bollywood (the Bachan will disagree about this), deserved his Darjah Seri Melaka (DSMM) conferred by Yang Di-Pertua Negri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

Will Shah Rukh Khan fly from India to Malacca today?

Shah Rukh Khan is among the 77 people to be conferred this title in conjucntion with the 70th Birthday of Yang-Dipertua Negri of Malacca today. No wonder it's public holiday today in Malacca. So why out of the blue, this Bollywood's heart throb was shortlisted for the Datuk title? Makes me and you wonder right? If you know, please let me know ya. Perhaps due to his beneficiary contribution on Malaccans in his movies? Or is it because he is our Yang-Dipertua Negri's idol? No idea, but we all know he is a great actor right? During his years in the Indian film industry, he has won thirteen Filmfare Awards, seven of which are in the Best Actor category. Now that speak volumes about him.

Birthday boy: Yang Di-Pertua Negri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob

Khan used to be my favourite Bollywood actor when I was younger. Yep, I used to lie down in the living room with my mom every Friday afternoon to catch Khan in action. I even acted in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai parody a few years back. Hmm...according to Wiki, here are some of Khan's best-known films: Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Chak De India (2007) and Om Shanti Om (2007), remain some of Bollywood's biggest hits, films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Veer-Zaara (2004) and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) have been top-grossing productions in the overseas market, making Khan one of the most successful actors of Hindi cinema. They don't call him King Khan for nothing right? And I'm sure one of Malaysians all-time super favourite is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai right? So here's the song~ *wink* ;)

Your favourite?

P.S.: Tekkaus would like to wish Yang Di-Pertua Negri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob Happy Birthday and congratulations to other recipients of award. ;)
