Our Outing With Baby Jadiel: Discovering Simple Joys

We enjoyed a memorable family day with baby Jadiel: town exploration, joyful shopping at Lotus's, and sweet treats at Secret Recipe.

Last Sunday, we found ourselves with a rare, serene moment to spend with our delightful nine-month-old baby, Jadiel. With his elder siblings, Jordan and Jasmine, wrapped up in their taekwondo classes, the three (My wife, me and baby Jadiel) of us embarked on a mini-outing that turned into a day filled with exploration, laughter, and sweet indulgence. It’s a day we’ll remember fondly and want to share with you.

A Stroll With Baby Jadiel

The world is truly a magical place through the eyes of a baby, and for Jadiel, our little escapade was an adventure. After our drop-off of Jordan and Jasmine, we cradled Jadiel and set out for sightseeing around town. Every corner held new fascinations for him—from the vibrant hues of store signs to the crowd of shoppers wandering around.

Each sound and sight was a new marvel. His wide-eyed delight and bubbly giggles were a refreshing reminder to us, as parents, to pause and savour life’s simplistic beauty. These mini-adventures, although ordinary to us, were extraordinary and enchanting to Jadiel.

Groceries With a Twist at Lotus’s

Following our leisurely walk, we took a practical turn by heading to Lotus's for some quick grocery shopping. Shopping trips sometimes feel mundane, yet with Jadiel in tow, our visit was anything but. His enthusiastic curiosity turned the store aisles into a playground of new experiences.

The colours, shapes, and friendly faces of other shoppers seemed to entertain and engage him wonderfully. Watching him marvel at a stack of vibrant vegetables or grin at the shiny packaging of goods turned our routine shopping into a joyful treasure hunt—each discovery sparking pure joy in his little heart.

Our Sweet Brunch at Secret Recipe

With shopping bags in hand and hunger settling in, our next stop was Secret Recipe. Known for its delightful menu, we decided to indulge in something sweet, ordering the Absolute Durian Cake and chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream topping, accompanied by a comforting cappuccino (for me😂).

The Absolute Durian Cake was a decadent treat. Its layers of vanilla sponge, infused with creamy D24 durian filling, offered a taste that was both unique and delightful. Despite the durian’s strong aroma, Jadiel was curious enough to sample a tiny bit, bringing giggles and a grin of approval.

This simple joy of sharing a meal with Jadiel, in the warmth of a cozy café, was the highlight of our day. It underlined the happiness that stems from little things—a comforting sip of coffee, a sweet treat, and the infectious cheer of a happy baby.

Reflecting on the Future

As we sat back, enjoying these simple pleasures, my wife and I couldn’t help but reflect on what the future holds. With our teenagers, Jordan and Jasmine, approaching new life phases, could this be a hint of how life will be once they start college? Sunday’s outing, just the three of us, offered a taste of quieter days ahead—a mix of nostalgia and anticipation.
