Huawei Watch Buds-Where Smartwatch and Earbuds Combine

Behold the brand new Huawei Watch Buds-Where Smartwatch and Earbuds Combine. Some would call this the 2-in-1 smartwatch.

Huawei has announced on its official Facebook page that the company's much anticipated Huawei Watch Buds-Where Smartwatch and Earbuds Combine. This is a 2-in-1 smartwatch that has been crafted perfectly. In fact, this is Huawei's very first smartwatch with incorporated earbuds, which will launch in Malaysia on 11 May 2023. I have personally seen a lot of smartwatches with integrated earbuds from other companies of smaller scales. Hence, it is a long time coming for one of the top dogs.

In summary, the smartwatch portion of the Huawei Watch Buds measures 47 x 47.5 x 14.99 mm and features a 1.43-inch AMOLED colour touchscreen with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. Encased in a stainless steel case, the smartwatch is attached with 22m leather straps. You can choose to have the straps in Khaki or Black colour. I personally prefer black as it looks more professional. According to its listing on Huawei's official website, only the latter option is currently available. In addition, numerous sensors, including heart rate, bone conduction, and others, are onboard and used for its health and sports monitoring features.

Huge 1.43-inch AMOLED Touchscreen Display

Next are the built-in earbuds, which fit nicely in the secret compartment under the display of the wearable. This is different from similar devices like the AiPower Wearbuds, which store audio devices on either side. This gives the Huawei Watch Buds a more standard and less bulky smartwatch shape. The earbuds themselves are held on by magnets under the screen, which is also where they will charge when not in use. By hitting the button on the right side of the wearable, you can open the top half of its case and get them out.

Watch Buds With ANC

The audio half of the Watch Buds is shaped like a bullet on both sides. It has full-range planar diaphragm units and touch controls that let you control playing and other things by tapping the earbuds or the front or back of your ears. It also has active noise cancellation (ANC) technology and comes with three different sizes of ear tips. Huawei says that the IP54 rating only applies to the earbuds and not to the watch itself. It is a shame that the smartwatch is not getting the needed protection but it can't be helped.

Huawei Watch Buds Battery Life

On paper, the battery life of the Huawei Watch Buds smartwatch is limited to three days with regular use.  This is acceptable though a bit short. The earbuds are claimed to be capable of mustering up to four hours of playback without ANC and three hours with the feature enabled. Again, this is expected due to the rare designs of the earbuds which come together with (underneath) the smartwatch.

The Huawei Watch Buds come with a price tag of RM 2,199, according to the description on Huawei's official store on Lazada.
