Behold: Xiaomi RedmiBook 15 arrives in Malaysia, finally. Although they were never officially offered in Malaysia, Xiaomi's lineup of laptops has gained considerable popularity among Malaysians. This meant that they could only be acquired from online dealers and not directly from Xiaomi (outside Malaysia). The good news is that Xiaomi Malaysia has announced the official launching of the RedmiBook 15 series on our shores, finally right?

The RedmiBook 15 Malaysia is now available in Malaysia beginning from the 6th of June 2022. Xiaomi has decided to offer RedmiBook 15 in two distinct configurations:

2 Xiaomi RedmiBook 15 Variants:

• RedmiBook 15, Core i3-1115G4, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
• RedmiBook 15, Core i5-11300H, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD

They will be available for purchase from the official Xiaomi stores on Lazada and Shopee, in addition to their physical locations located throughout the country. If you purchase them between the 6th and 30th of June, you'll also be able to obtain them at a cheaper price, and purchases made at physical Xiaomi stores will also come with a free Mi Casual backpack valued at RM69.

The RedmiBook 15 features a 15.6-inch, FHD IPS anti-glare display that, according to Xiaomi, offers DC Dimming to prevent flickering at low light levels. The laptop's chassis is a metal body that weighs 1.8kg and measures 19.9mm in thickness. Here, there is only one colour option available, Charcoal Gray.

The aforementioned 11th Generation Intel Core CPUs, the Intel Core i3-1115G4 and Intel Core i5-11300H, are housed within the chassis. The Core i3 chip in this series is from the less powerful U-series, whereas the Core i5 chip is from the more capable H35 series. This is a bit odd. The Core i5 variant includes 512GB of SSD storage and Intel Iris Xe graphics, while the Core i3 model has 256GB of SSD storage and Intel UHD graphics. Both models include 8GB of DDR4 RAM.

A 46Wh battery rated for up to 10 hours of power life is currently keeping the lights on. Xiaomi also claims that the included charger should be able to recharge the battery to 50 percent in 33 minutes. Sadly, the charging port on this device is not USB-C. In fact, USB-C port appears to be absent on the RedmiBook 15. A USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI 1.4 port, an Ethernet port, a microSD card reader, a Kensington lock slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack are all that are available.

Overall, the RedmiBook 15 seems out of place in the current local laptop environment but the price tags will be tempting for sure. The Core i5 model is plainly more capable than the Core i3 model, but the Core i3 model's discounted pricing makes it enticing as well. In this price range, it will likely compete with the Honor MagicBook X15, MagicBook 14, and Huawei MateBook D15.
