After our educational guided tour at The Habitat Penang Hill, we headed to our next destination where we could soar high in the sky. Yes! Our next highlight was the Flight of The Colugo-Zip Line at The Habitat Penang Hill. Arguably, this extreme activity is definitely for thrill-seekers who want to defy gravity while "levitating" in the sky. If you happen to be in Penang, then you have to include this exciting zip line activity as a must-visit attraction in your Penang itinerary.
Flight of The Colugo-Zip Line At The Habitat Penang Hill
It is time to gear up!
You will of course need to first purchase The Habitat admission tickets to get to the Flight of The Colugo Zip Line. We opted for the complete Flight of The Colugo experience which consists of 5 zip line courses which can be completed around an hour. The tickets for the zip line will include equipment rental together with experienced professional guides. So basically you do not have to bring anything to enjoy this zip line adventure. Do note that prior booking is highly advisable since there will be very limited slots available each day.
Our safety is their priority
Make sure that everything is fastened and secured
The full, complete Flight of The Colugo Zip Line experience will allow you to glide like a Colugo. In case you didn't notice, Flight of The Colugo is actually named after the Malaysian Flying Lemur which can be found in this rainforest. The thought of gracing the skies like a flying lemur had really excited us-especially Jordan boy and Jasmine girl. So this zip line adventure in The Habitat is definitely a must-try for parents and their kids.
Zip Line Demonstration Before We Started
First and foremost, we would need to "suit up". Our guides-Ms Waheeda and Naqibah helped us to put on our safety equipment consisting of harnesses, belts and of course helmet. After that they showed us how we should be zip-lining later through a mini safety demonstration. Peel your eyes and make sure you are paying attention to what they will be teaching you, especially the little ones. Our guides did their very best to ensure that we were well-informed which we did.
Let's start our Flight of The Colugo Zipline Adventure
Honeymoon Zipline-Teaser For You
Then it was the moment of truth. Slowly we inched towards our first zip-line platform-The Honeymoon Zipline. Honestly I was not really shaken or anything as I had done this before but my wife and children were obviously a bit nervous (just a wee bit). However, knowing that their man-me was not intimidated at gave them some assurance that everything would be ok. So back to our very first Honeymoon Zipline, it is a unique zipline as two people can zip through at the same time and obviously this is very popular with couples who would hold hands while flying over the trees.
Hold the hand of your loved one in this tandem Honeymoon Zipline! 😍
Some visitors to The Habitat have opted for the 80-metre Honeymoon Zipline instead of the full, complete experience. This is ideal for those who just wants to have a brief taste of what this extreme sports could bring. Then again, I would highly recommend that you try the full zipline experience as it will only get better and more exciting. You will not regret it for sure. Do not be worried as the experienced and professional guides will be with you all the time.
Our professional guides guided us through and through
So you do not need to be afraid of anything 😄
See you on the other side
It is time fly over or through the forest!
Our guides were always there to ensure we had a safe landing!
Our guides-Ms Waheeda and Naqibah were always there to educate us about the correct way to zipline. They constantly reminded us not to jump off or run off our platforms; We should not to touch the line; And not to forget to lift our feet when we arrive at our next platform. Both of them would always make sure that at least one of our carabiners was attached all the time for our safety. They told us that they have had rigorous training every few months to be in tip top shape. Obviously our safety was their main priority and that gave us absolute peace of mind, knowing that out ziplining adventure would be fun and of course safe.
This Zipline adventure at The Habitat is ideal for kids as well
The Suspended Rope Bridge
Besides the ziplines, one of the challenges included was the suspended rope bridge. It is not for the faint of heart and definitely will be a daunting task for people with acrophobia (fear of heights). Then again if you are afraid of heights, your fear is not unfounded. The suspended bridge might swing from side-to-side a wee bit but then again you are perfectly safe as you will always be connected to their safety line. You need walk to the other end of the bridge on your own two feet which might be quite nerve-wrecking. Still, this will be an experience you will not remember for a long time to come.
The suspended rope bridge is perfectly safe!
It did sway a bit but it was fun!
After our "suspenseful" rope bridge crossing, we move to our next two jumps. As we travelled towards our next zipline stations, the platforms kept getting higher and higher off the ground. The finale or the fifth jump was a fitting ending with the platform reaching a height of 26 meters. If you have made it this far, I doubt that you will still be intimidated by height anymore. At this point, all of us were simply taking in the amazing view and soaking in the pleasant atmosphere that the luxuriant foliage and tall trees were offering us. It is not every day that you could be this "high", no?
We are Colugos! Let's Zipline!
Look at how close we were to the tree branches.
Professional and Humorous Guide
By the way, we really want to extend our heartiest gratitude to our guides-Ms Waheeda and Naqibah who were professional and humorous at the same time. Both of them made sure that we were safe and sound all the time while we were ziplining across the forest. They were also very proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia, making our communication easy and fun. From time to time, they cracked us up with their jokes and surely both our children had a whale of time ziplining with their reassuring presence. Besides tickling our bones, Ms Waheeda and Naqibah were also very knowledgeable about the forest. They shared with us a wealth of information ranging from resin of the trees to huge spiders that we overlooked.
Get up close and personal with mother nature

Not a single nail is used to construct these zipline courses
Should You Join The Flight of The Colugo?
The answer is a resounding YES! If you are already in The Habitat, it makes perfect sense to take up this exhilarating ziplining experience. After all, you are already there right? Might as well seize the opportunity and take part in the activity. Nothing beats flying in the sky while looking down the dense forest underneath us. Even the teaser Honeymoon Zipline would be fine. But I highly recommend that you sign up for the full, complete zipline experience. Knowing that we would not be here again for some time, we immediately opted for the full, complete package.
