As of April 2020, Speedtest has unveiled the list of countries with the fastest mobile Internet and fixed broadband Internet connections. This report which is announced by Speedtest encompasses 2 different categories namely fixed broadband Internet and mobile Internet. 4 Southeast Asian and 6 European Countries made it into the list of Top 10 Fastest Broadband Internet. USA fell behind this year and ended in the 11th spot. The top 3 countries are Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand. Singapore averages a download speed of 198.46M bps, an upload speed of 207.17 Mbps and a latency of 12ms. Taking the fourth placing is Switzerland followed by Romania, Monaco, Andorra, Macau, Sweden and Denmark. Which countries has the fastest mobile Internet to offer to their citizens in year 2020? In terms of mobile data Internet, South Korea came out top with an average download speed of 88.01 Mbps. Qatar came in at second with a download speed of 84.81 Mbps while China was third with 78.56 Mbps. United Arab Emirates (UAE) was number 4 followed by Netherlands at fifth spot. Canada, Bulgaria, Norway, Australia and Saudi Arabia complete the remaining spots.

I was curious about my country as well and hence I checked and is (still) kind of disappointed to know that our Internet speed is relatively slow compared to so many other countries. Malaysia ranked 38th in fixed broadband Internet connection speed test. The worse comes to worst when Malaysia only ranked at the 98th spot in mobile Internet connection speed test. Given the price that we are paying, it is a shame to know that my country's Internet speed is slow and expensive. I hope Unifi and other ISPs in my country will buck up.
